On Tuesday, Madadali's attorney Ameesh A. Kheran released a statement explaining that Madadali graduated from Hardin Valley Academy in 2024, and also attended both the middle and elementary schools. After graduation, his attorney said he and his family moved to Auburn University in Alabama.

In that statement, he explained the reason for the visit as such:

"Mr. Madadali returned to Knoxville during Spring Break to reconnect with friends and former teachers and share updates regarding his academic progress, including a recently secured internship with a Big Four CPA firm. The purpose was appreciative and personal: to thank the educators and schools that helped lay the foundation for his success."

On 02/07/26, we were truly grateful and honored to have the opportunity to train the security team at Cherokee Heights Baptist Church. It was a blessing to work alongside a group of dedicated men who are volunteering their time, energy, and commitment to better prepare themselves in order to help keep their church family safe.
