Emergency management is preparing for the application of existing facilities, materials, equipment and personnel during an emergency, in such a manner that lives may be saved, health and efficiency maintained, and property protected. All this is for the purpose of maintaining a social environment that is in harmony with the Constitution of the United States of America and the customs and traditions that American cherish. The responsibility for Emergency Management is vested jointly with Governmental officials and the local citizenry. Action for Emergency Management is initiated by local governmental officials, stimulated by local citizen groups and coordinated by the local Emergency Management Director.

Friends, we need to talk! Lately we have been finding more and more things in the bins here at the office that are not supposed to be in there. Since we are right here, I'm guessing it is confusion. The recycling bins, (the gray ones with the yellow tops), whether here or at the other sites throughout the county, are for household recycling ONLY. Plastic jugs and bottles, food cans, glass food jars, paper, cardboard, ect. Hazardous materials, such as the small propane tanks, aerosol cans, and loctite you see in this picture do NOT go in those bins. We will happily take those items, but they need to be given to the warehouse worker to be placed in the proper area. It is DANGEROUS to put these things in the bin. Also, items made from metal that aren't food or drink cans should be taken to a scrap yard. There are three that we are aware of in Howard County. They will even give you money for most of those items. They should not go into the bins. If you ever have any questions, feel free to ask one of us and we would be happy to help. Thank you for recycling!!

Focus in this AM's Video remains fixated on the next widespread rain chances for the Ohio Valley. Timing differences persist, but we’re leaning Euro with a faster eastward front. Thu–Sat still the higher-risk window for widespread rain and a few storms.
