It’s important to protect yourself from ticks. Ticks can carry diseases and being bitten by a diseased tick isn’t something you want to risk.

Ticks are present year-round but are most active during warmer weather. As you’re out and about this summer, consider these steps to help prevent you and your loved ones from being bitten by a tick:

Ticks live in grassy, brushy, or wooded areas. If possible, avoid these areas.

Wear high-top boots with long pants tucked into the boots. If you don’t have boots, tuck your pants into your socks. Tuck your shirt into your pants and spray any exposed skin with a DEET-based repellent. You can also spray permethrin on your clothes to help deter ticks.

When you get indoors, shower and check for ticks.

Ticks can be carried into your home on your clothes. Throw your clothes in the dryer for 10 minutes to kill any ticks that may be on the clothes. If you need to wash your clothes, wash with hot water, as cold and medium temperatures will not kill ticks.

What should you do if you find a tick on your skin? Grab a pair of fine-tipped tweezers and pull the tick upward in a steady, even motion off your skin. Promptly wash your hands and disinfect the bite.

What do you do with the tick? Do not crush the tick with your fingers! It’s recommended to place it in rubbing alcohol, flush it down the toilet, or place it in a sealed bag. Watch for a rash or fever after being bitten. This may occur several weeks after the bite. If either occur, please see your doctor.

A friendly reminder and warning for everyone - especially anyone with kids and pets. August through early October depending on where you live is the time of year when copperheads are born. Baby snakes are born with venom and are ready to defend themselves. The mama snake generally gives birth to about 8 - 10 of these critters, so if you find one, there are likely others around. The babies will keep those greenish yellow tips on their tails for about a year. These snakes are not generally aggressive but will bite if you're unfortunate enough to touch or step on one. Do not reach under bushes, around rocks, or even flower pots without looking first. They like damp places, so beware, even under children's toys and dog dishes!

Ants.

Found their food,
Found their harborage
& all in all their reason for liking it here.

Moisture beneath the sink due to small leak.

Access to food due to home owner having dog bowl of food inside bathroom.

Harborage in a woven basket that was wood and a tad bit wet due to leak and warmth of a small bathroom.

PERFECT environment for them.

The ants were traveling the pluming pipes to the kitchen sink back and forth to get sweets as well.

I was unable to find an ant trail outside anywhere on sunny days with several different attempts. I then knew the issue had to be inside the home somewhere.

After some looking I was able to locate and remove the nest. All of these little black dots are dead ants.

Happy to find this today.

I done a termite inspection locally here today and found active subterranean termites.

These people just had a treatment done last year.

The company that came out drilled their cinderblock and pumped chemical inside the cinderblock and that was all.

After further inspection, I found the cinderblock was sitting on a concrete slab, so their was no actual dirt underneath the cinderblock, so all the chemical was pumped on top of concrete, never actually reaching the dirt therefore they technically never got not one drop of chemical inside dirt to combat the termites.

These people paid well over $2000 for a treatment that did absolutely nothing for their termites.

I just want to say, it’s okay to ask questions. It’s okay to do your own research and ask what chemical is used, and how long it will last and then ask about warranties.

Pay attention and ask questions if one comes across your mind.

These people had no idea they received the wrong treatment, but here the termites have been eating on their house for another entire year.

Termites are upon us! Iv been seeing a few swarmers!

If you have termites, and I can not assist you, I will absolutely refer you to another local company who may have the means to do so. I’m all for staying local with stuff like this.

You all have a good day, And remember, it’s okay to ask questions.
