With the possibility of flooding over the next few weeks, it is a good time to make sure your gas powered pumps are in working order after the winter. Our River Crest Special, valid from now through the end of April, runs $55.00 plus tax (normally $70.00) and includes a full tune up (air filter, spark plug, oil change), draining of stale gas, and testing of your gas powered water pumps. Text, call, email, or message us for details.

Temperatures will be approaching the 70s next week, so it must be time to put your snow blowers in storage for the warmer months. When not using gas powered equipment for more than a month or two, it is critical to prepare it properly to prevent fuel gumming issues. For $25.00, we will prep your snow equipment for storage. Proper prep will ensure an easier time getting it started come that first snow next winter.

You might be wondering, why repair your equipment instead of just purchasing new? Here are the top four reasons.

1-It's cheaper*. The cheapest new gas-powered lawn mowers can run around $200.00! New gas powered snow blowers can be even more, at $300.00 and up. Wouldn't it make more sense to pay around $100.00 or less to have your mower repaired? Think of what you could do with an extra $100.00 or more. College or retirement fund, pay down credit card debt, or just have fun with a night out in beautiful La Crosse.

2-Quality equipment. A lot of older equipment was simply built better than new equipment. I regularly see equipment from 20 or 30+ years ago still going strong, and equipment from 5 years ago that already needs replacement. You could save money, plus keep an older but higher quality piece of equipment that you are familiar with running. You could always purchase used, but how do you know if it was maintained properly or abused? You know how your own equipment has been maintained.

3-Better for the environment. Did you know that a lot of the carbon and other emissions in a product's life cycle are released during the manufacture and transportation of a new product, as opposed to the actual use of the product? Repairing your equipment extends the lifetime you can get out of it, reducing those initial emissions. It also reduces the amount of old operable equipment going into the garbage and disposal systems, lowering the need for landfill space and processing centers.

4-Support a local small business. Purchasing new from a home center supports a large corporation, a lot of your money might not even stay in this state. Paying a local business to repair your equipment keeps more of your money in the local economy, providing a boost to all of us!

*There are some specific cases where it might be more economical to purchase a new piece of equipment than repair your existing equipment. Larger repairs, such as engine rebuild/replacement or major rust damage, could potentially cost more than new, especially on older equipment with hard to find parts. I make sure to keep my customers updated on their options and will let them know if it is time to look into new equipment before performing repairs.
