Due to continued weather conditions, Cameron County will once again be providing sandbags to residents today. We encourage everyone to take a few moments to prepare if you may need them.

📅 Today – Monday, June 15
⏰ 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
📍 26641 White Ranch Rd., La Feria, TX

• Residential limit: 6 sandbags
• Commercial limit: 10 sandbags

I want to share some of the great summer initiatives available here in Precinct 4. From youth camps to free meal programs and other valuable community resources.

These opportunities are here to support our families and make sure our children stay engaged, active, and well-nourished throughout the summer months. I encourage everyone to take full advantage of what’s available in our community. 🌱

💼🚐 I want to share a great resource coming to our community! The Workforce Solutions Cameron Mobile Resource Lab begins its June visits across Precinct 4 today.

📍 Today, June 9, the Mobile Resource Lab will be at Primera City Hall from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

This mobile lab is equipped with 12 computer workstations and provides helpful services including job search assistance, resume creation, internet access, and even a private space for on-site interviews. 📄💻

Throughout the month of June, it will be making stops across Precinct 4, helping community members access these important resources close to home.

If you haven’t had the chance to visit the Workforce Solutions Cameron office, this is a great opportunity to take advantage of these free services right here in our community.

Congratulations to the recipients of the 2026 Commissioner Gus Ruiz Scholarship: Haylie Kristine Badillo of La Feria, David Favian Guzman Rangel of Santa Maria and Omar Alejandro Pacheco Jr of Santa Rosa.

Meeting these students and learning about their goals reminded me why investing in our youth is so important. Although each of them has chosen a different path, they all share a strong commitment to their community and a desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others. 🌟

I want to sincerely thank every student who applied for this year’s scholarship. It is encouraging to see so many young people working hard, pursuing their dreams, and looking for ways to give back to the communities they call home.

To Omar, David, and Haylie, I am proud of what you have accomplished and excited to see what the future holds for each of you. I wish you continued success as you pursue your education and career goals. ⭐

Supporting our students, families, and communities will always remain a priority for me. The future is bright, and in good hands with young leaders like these.
