🍁 THE FALL INVASION: The truth about stink bugs & Asian lady beetles 🐞
As East TN temperatures drop, these pests swarm sunny exterior walls looking for tiny gaps to crawl inside for the winter.
When dealing with these seasonal invaders, we believe in honest communication:
🚫 No absolute guarantees: Because these insects fly by the thousands and land continuously on your siding, complete eradication or guaranteed prevention outdoors is impossible for any pest control provider.
📉 What we CAN do: While no one can stop them from flying into your yard, we can drastically lower their numbers and help prevent them from taking over your living spaces.
At Truly Nolen, we inspect, trap and seal to protect your home's perimeter:
🛑 Exterior Barriers: We treat common congregating zones to knock down active populations.
🪟 Interior Defense: We focus on clearing out active intruders and creating a protective barrier inside your common entry points to keep them out of your living areas.
Don't wait for them to settle into your walls!

🎃 OCTOBER BUG TRIVIA: 4 creepy facts about your fall invaders! 🍂

With Halloween around the corner, things are getting spooky behind your walls. The pests trying to move inside right now have some seriously weird survival traits:
🦨 Stink bugs use chemical warfare: Their foul odor comes from glands on their abdomen. Fun fact: The chemical compounds in their stink are the exact same ones found in cilantro! 🌿

🛡️ Lady beetles bleed from their knees: When scared, Asian lady beetles sq**rt a bitter yellow fluid out of their leg joints. This fluid is what stains your curtains and walls. 🎨
🕷️ Spiders have blue blood: Spiders have bright blue blood powered by copper. Because they can't chew, they inject enzymes to liquefy their prey and drink it like a smoothie. 🧬
🪳 Roaches can live without a head: They breathe through tiny holes all over their bodies. A cockroach can survive for up to a week without its head, only dying from dehydration. 💀

🍁 Keep the spooks limited to your porch decorations! Don't let your home turn into a haunted house!
While these traits are fascinating, you don't want them practicing them in your kitchen. At Truly Nolen, we inspect, trap and seal. We knock out exterior swarms and permanently block hidden entry points with professional-grade materials.

Looks like a nightmare. Acts more like pest control. 👀

Vinegaroons hunt roaches, crickets and other pests after dark and defend themselves with a vinegar-scented spray.

Scary looking. Mostly harmless.

😜 One day it’s sunny, the next we are living in a cloud of thick humidity, fog, and rain. 🌦️
It's just our way of life!

But you know who hates our misty mountain weather the most? Your crawlspace. Since no one really hangs out down there regularly, high humidity can quietly build up, creating the perfect breeding ground for wood-destroying organisms and causing hidden wood rot. 💦

⌛Don’t wait until the damage spreads! Let Truly Nolen Pest Control handle the damp, dark places. We offer crawlspace remediation to dry things out and keep your home safe from the elements.

🍁 FALL HOME MAINTENANCE: Your DIY pest checklist 🐭
Before the East TN cold hits, take these quick steps to keep rodents out:

📋 The DIY Checklist:
🌿 Trim overgrowth: Cut branches 1–2 feet away from your roof and siding.
🚪 Check garage doors: Look for daylight under the bottom corners.
🍂 Clear the perimeter: Rake leaves away from crawlspace doors and vents.
🪵 Move attractants: Store firewood and birdseed away from the foundation.

When to take it to the next level:
If pests are already inside, don't trap them with DIY spray foam. That's where we come in. We inspect, trap and seal using heavy-duty, rodent-proof materials to secure your home's blind spots.

Yellow jackets, bees, wasps, and hornets —they’re all cut from the same cloth, but they definitely don't act the same! When they peak during late summer and fall across Knoxville and LaFollette, knowing who you're dealing with makes all the difference. 🐝 🦟
Quick Do's & Don'ts for Your Yard
✅ DO seal your trash: Tight lids keep hungry yellow jackets away from food scraps.
✅ DO check your eaves: Inspect fascia and soffits early to block nesting queens.
❌ DON'T swat or flail: Flailing makes wasps and yellow jackets feel threatened, triggering an attack.
❌ DON'T squish near a nest: Crushing a yellow jacket releases an alarm pheromone that signals the colony to swarm.

📞 Let Truly Nolen Handle the Buzz!
If stinging insects are taking over your yard, don't risk a painful sting. Our 4 Seasons Pest Control program features specialized assessments to locate and eliminate nests safely. Backed by our unconditional satisfaction guarantee, we will make sure you can enjoy your backyard in peace.

🏠 Wasps coming inside through a bedroom vent? That’s exactly the call we received recently.

It is the ultimate case of out of sight, out of mind—until they start buzzing around your living space.

👀🔎After a thorough investigation, we tracked the problem down: a massive colony of paper wasps was nesting on the exterior wall right next to the vent opening, completely hidden from view.

Our manager got suited up, scaled the roof, and treated the issue directly at the source—stopping them from invading the home for good. ⛔

That is pest control you can trust. 🛠️
