This was our Viva La Mesa Convivio & Pot Luck on May 21!
Great information provided by our “Comish” Christopher Schaljo-Hernandez. We will soon have shade covering for our outdoor recreation area! BIG NEWS happened during our luncheon as Doña Ana County IT Department showed up and let us know we are getting computers at our center. Orlando followed up with Kent English, director of IT and he advised the plan is to be up and running by the end of June!
We had Ariana from Roadrunner Food Bank that came and let us know that they will be providing food boxes to include canned goods and fresh fruits and vegetables! No ID is required to pick up a box, just a name and phone number. Roadrunner will be at the Community Center every THIRD THURSDAY of the month at 8:00 am beginning July 16, 2026! She also advised that in partnership with Casa de Peregrinos, they also are no longer supposed to be asking for identification either. They come to the San Jose Church Parish Hall every 4th Tuesday of the month at 10:00 am!
We had legislative aids Andre and Faustino present from Senator Carrie Hamblen’s and State Rep. Ray Lara’s office (respectively) to listen to any concerns attendees had!
Our next Viva La Mesa Convivio & Pot Luck is Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 11:30 am! As usual you are welcomed to bring a favorite dish to share or just come and enjoy a meal!
Hope you found our updates helpful! And remember… VIVA LA MESA!
