The Greatest Giants...Christy Mathewson!
A graduate of Keystone Academy in Factoryville, Mathewson went on to become one of the greatest pitchers in Major League Baseball history. During his legendary 17-year career with the New York Giants, he recorded 373 victories, a 2.13 ERA, 79 shutouts, and more than 2,500 strikeouts.
In 1905, Mathewson delivered one of the most dominant World Series performances ever, throwing three complete-game shutouts in six days to lead the Giants to a championship.
His impact on the game earned him a place in baseball history as a member of the inaugural National Baseball Hall of Fame class in 1936.
More than a century later, his legacy continues to inspire Keystone Athletics and Giants everywhere.
