Great job Brother!

Congratulations are in order! And thanks as well.

Kudos to the 2026 graduates of the SFFMA Fire Chief Development Program, which provides current and aspiring fire chiefs or assistant/deputy chiefs with the information needed to meet the changing demands of managing, improving, and directing volunteer and combination departments of all sizes.

These folks worked diligently over the past nine months - both in person and online - to complete the course and today they were rewarded!

Congrats, everyone!! We're proud of each of you. We could not have done this without the generosity of our 2026 FCDP sponsor, HEAT Safety Equipment!! Many thanks to Greg and Jimmy and the gang at HEAT. We appreciate your support!!

๐Ÿ”ฅ Training Today Means Being Ready Tomorrow ๐Ÿš’

This past Saturday, La Porte Firefighters put in the work with hands-on vehicle extrication training.

Our crews spent the day sharpening their skills, working through realistic scenarios, and practicing the tools and techniques needed to safely remove patients from heavily damaged vehicles.

Extrication is physically demanding and requires teamwork, communication, and experience. Training like this ensures our firefighters are prepared to perform when seconds count.

Proud of our crews for continuing to train, improve, and stay ready to serve the La Porte community. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿš’

Train hard. Stay ready. Serve proudly

UPDATE 07/20/2026: SH 146 Feeder Road now expected to reopen Sunday, July 26th at 5pm.

๐Ÿšง SH 146 NORTHBOUND FEEDER ROAD CLOSURE ๐Ÿšง

Motorists should be aware of upcoming TxDOT repair work on the northbound SH 146 feeder road between Fairmont Parkway and Spencer Highway.

Tonight, July 15: The feeder road will be fully closed from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. for preparation work.

The road will reopen after tonightโ€™s work and remain open until:

Wednesday, July 22, at 9:00 a.m.

At that time, the feeder road will close completely while crews remove damaged pavement, prepare the subgrade, install rebar, and pour new concrete.

The feeder road is expected to reopen by Friday, July 24, at 5:00 p.m.

The La Porte Police Department and City staff are working to make this necessary roadwork as manageable as possible. LPPD has coordinated with TxDOT to deploy additional signage and will have officers assisting with traffic control.

Please use an alternate route and allow extra travel time.

The schedule is subject to change due to weather or other conditions. We will reshare this message next week with the latest.

We recently received our new Elkhart Brass 7/8" smooth bore nozzles, and we're excited to begin the process of placing them into service.

These nozzles are designed to deliver a powerful, reliable fire stream, providing our firefighters with another proven tool to help protect lives and property. Before they hit the streets, each nozzle will be inspected, assigned, and personnel will become familiar with the new equipment to ensure they're ready when the call comes.

Every equipment upgrade is an investment in firefighter safety, operational readiness, and our commitment to serving the City of La Porte with the best tools available.
