LOOKING FOR A USED R44? BEFORE YOU BUY, COMPARE IT TO NEW.

In the last 60 days, HeliSafe has accepted delivery of five new Robinson aircraft for clients, with another new R44 arriving in just a few weeks.

Several of those clients started out looking at used aircraft.

But with new R44 delivery times around three months, it’s worth comparing the numbers. You may be able to buy brand-new and customize the color, avionics and equipment for YOUR mission — instead of living with how someone else configured their R44.

This photo is pretty cool for me personally, too.

HeliSafe has accepted delivery of five new Robinson aircraft in just the last 60 days.

Robinson Helicopter Company has now delivered more than 5,000 R44s—an incredible milestone for one of the most successful civilian helicopters ever built.

At HeliSafe, the R44 story is personal.

We own N444RH, Serial Number 4—the oldest flying R44 in existence.

Serial Numbers 1 and 2 were never flying aircraft, and sadly Serial Number 3 was destroyed in a midair collision. That makes our aircraft, Serial Number 4, the oldest R44 still flying today.

And right now, it’s sitting in our facility next to two of the newest R44s off the Robinson assembly line, ready for delivery.

One agency that has always impressed me is the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Grady Judd.

They didn’t choose an aircraft based on image or ego—they chose it based on the mission. That’s exactly how it should be done. First, define the mission. Then determine the crew required to accomplish it safely and effectively. Finally, select the most capable and cost-effective aircraft for that mission.

For the overwhelming majority of patrol operations, a two-person crew is all that’s required. When you evaluate mission capability against acquisition, operating, and maintenance costs, the Robinson R66 is exceptionally difficult to beat as a dedicated patrol helicopter.

Kudos to Robinson for highlighting the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. It’s also worth recognizing the Fontana Police Department Air Support Unit, an early adopter of the R66 in law enforcement, for demonstrating how a thoughtfully designed fleet can deliver outstanding patrol and multi-mission capability while remaining fiscally responsible.

Robinson Helicopters played a pivotal role in one of the largest civilian mobilizations of aircraft in U.S. history during the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Private owners and companies operating Robinson helicopters answered the call for help, showcasing incredible dedication and teamwork in a time of crisis.

Over the course of 11 days, these helicopters became a lifeline for communities in Western North Carolina that were completely cut off due to the storm. Volunteer pilots, flying a variety of aircraft but with Robinson helicopters making up the largest fleet, delivered essential supplies like food, water, medicine, and oxygen to areas only accessible by air. They also evacuated 454 survivors, providing not just aid but hope to those in desperate need.

The precision, reliability, and versatility of Robinson helicopters were instrumental in this massive relief effort, and the commitment of private owners and companies who operate these aircraft deserves immense recognition. Their selfless actions during this unprecedented mobilization highlight the power of community and the critical role aviation plays in disaster recovery.
