PRESS RELEASE
Slow Down Move Over Inc.
THREE YEARS. STILL NO JUSTICE. NOW THE CLOCK STARTS.
COWETA COUNTY, GEORGIA —
After more than three years of delays, excuses, and a system that moves slower than the traffic that killed him, the trial for the death of tow operator Toby Bowden is finally scheduled to begin April 20, 2026.
Let that sink in.
A man is killed on the side of Interstate 85, doing his job, under flashing lights that are supposed to protect him by law…
…and it takes three years just to get to a courtroom.
THIS IS NOT A COMPLICATED CASE
This is not a mystery.
This is not a debate.
This is not a gray area.
• Law enforcement is testifying
• First responders are testifying
• Evidence is direct
• The facts are known
We know exactly what happened.
What we don’t know is why the system drags its feet when a roadway worker is killed.
THE SYSTEM HAS ALREADY FAILED — THIS IS ITS LAST CHANCE
Let’s stop pretending.
The same system that:
• Delays hearings
• Reschedules trials
• Lets defendants sit comfortably out on bond
…is now asking the family to sit in a courtroom and relive the worst day of their lives.
They will be forced to:
• See graphic evidence
• Hear every detail again
• Sit feet away from the person responsible
That’s what “justice” looks like right now.
Cold. Slow. And overdue.
WE’VE SEEN THIS BEFORE — AND IT SHOULD TERRIFY YOU
During pre-trial discussions, another case was brought up:
• Clear visibility
• Daylight conditions
• A worker killed
The outcome?
• Minimal jail time
• Weekend sentences
• A life reduced to a slap on the wrist
That is exactly what we are up against.
And if you think it can’t happen again, you haven’t been paying attention.
THIS IS BIGGER THAN ONE CASE — THIS IS A PATTERN
Tow operators.
Police officers.
Firefighters.
DOT workers.
Struck. Killed. Forgotten.
And over and over again, the consequences don’t match the damage.
Because somewhere along the line, society decided that:
killing a roadway worker is just another “accident.”
No. It’s not.
It’s negligence.
It’s disregard.
And it’s happening because people think they’ll get away with it.
Too often, they do.
TO THE DRIVER WHO DID THIS — AND EVERY DRIVER WATCHING
You ignored the law.
You ignored the lights.
You ignored the risk.
And now a man is gone forever.
This trial is where that decision finally meets consequences.
APRIL 20 — THIS IS WHERE IT GETS REAL
Jury selection begins April 20.
Trial follows immediately after.
And make no mistake:
This is not just a court date.
This is a test.
• Of the justice system
• Of accountability
• Of whether a roadway worker’s life actually matters in a courtroom
TO THE COMMUNITY — SHOW UP
If you’ve ever:
• Worked a roadway
• Stood behind flashing lights
• Watched traffic fly past you inches away
Then you already know how this ends if nothing changes.
We are calling on:
• The towing and recovery industry
• First responders
• Every person who claims to support Move Over laws
Be in that courtroom.
Because silence is exactly why this keeps happening.
WE ARE DONE BEING QUIET
Slow Down Move Over Inc. will be watching every second of this trial.
If justice is delayed again — we will say it.
If accountability is weak — we will expose it.
If this turns into another slap on the wrist — we will make sure the entire country knows.
No more quiet acceptance.
No more watered-down outrage.
No more pretending this is okay.
TOBY BOWDEN SHOULD STILL BE HERE
And the fact that he isn’t…
means someone has to answer for it.
“All Is Well” Toby I will be in your corner 100%
