Before closing out the summer, the NHHA team took time to connect outside of the office—gathering for a beach bonfire filled with laughter, good food, and great company. 🌅
We’ve also loved seeing our staff make the most of their time off—traveling, relaxing, and creating memories with family and friends in:
📍Punta Mita, Mexico
📍Sedona, AZ
📍Austin, TX
📍Zion National Park - UT
📍Maui, HI
📍Greek Isles
📍Freeport, ME
Moments like these remind us how important it is to recharge, reconnect, and bring renewed energy back into the meaningful work we do together. 💙

Homelessness in Los Angeles isn’t just a crisis—it’s the result of a century of decisions that shaped the city we see today.
From halting public housing projects in the 1950s to dismantling mental health infrastructure, and from restrictive zoning to skyrocketing housing prices, the groundwork was laid one policy at a time.

Today, we’re witnessing the human cost of those choices in the lives of thousands of Angelenos. Real change will require more than short-term fixes—it demands that we understand the history, confront the systemic barriers, and build a future where housing and healthcare are within reach for everyone.

The surprising story, in words and pictures, behind the homeless crisis in Los Angeles — a tale of law enforcement, housing and economic crosswinds.

What does success look like at a Community Care Campus?
1️⃣ Drive down the cost of healthcare
2️⃣ Improve outcomes for the people we serve.

How we do this:
✔️ Our programs reduce ER visits, hospital readmissions, and the burden on local law enforcement—so resources can be used where they’re needed most.
✔️ Our highly trained staff can serve individuals with higher mental acuity, bringing quality care to populations that are often overlooked.
✔️ Our integrated model connects people to wraparound services that support recovery, stability, and long-term housing success.

From energizing conversations with potential partners to envisioning what’s next for our Community Care Campus model, Sacramento is brimming with possibility—and we’re excited to build on the momentum! 💙🏛️

This week, we were honored to host representatives from Alliance Healthcare Foundation, The SCAN Foundation, Sierra Health Foundation, CARESTAR Foundation, Prebys Foundation, Metta Fund and Interfaith Community Services at our Community Care Campus in Long Beach. “I am living proof that breaking the cycle of generational trauma is possible.”

Raised in a home marked by addiction and abuse, Memory began her own struggle with substance use at just 11 years old. By 17, she was a mother—navigating life without guidance or support. But everything changed when she entered recovery at 23. She began healing, went back to school, and found her purpose in helping others.

Today, Memory is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who brings compassion, resilience, and clinical expertise to NHHA’s Community Care Campuses. She provides direct therapy to clients, trains our teams in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, supports trauma-informed care, and mentors new clinicians. She even developed our internship program and policies to build the next generation of social workers.

And her legacy continues on in her daughter, who has watched her rebuild her life, as she earned her own Master’s in Social Work last month. 💙

Thank you, Memory, for your strength, your heart, and the way you lead with lived experience. You remind us all that healing is possible, and that every person deserves a future filled with hope.
