Thank You to the Cook Family Foundation!

The Greater Laingsburg Recyclers is thrilled to announce that the Cook Family Foundation has generously awarded us a grant to help cover the cost of two balers we recently purchased from the St. Johns Lions Club, whose recycling site has permanently closed.

Adding these two balers will significantly increase our ability to efficiently collect and process more recyclable material. By compacting materials into larger bales, we can also reduce the transportation impact of moving recyclables to market.

We’re grateful for the Cook Family Foundation’s support and investment in our recycling efforts. We’re hopeful that the additional equipment will not only expand our capacity but also contribute to smoother, more efficient operations during business hours.

Recycling Drive Tomorrow!
Tuesday September 1st, 2026
4-6 pm

*Food scrap drop-off program collection bin will be outside near the rear of the building. Free food scrap collection bins available-ask a volunteer.

✅ Accepted Items (must be clean, dry, and sorted by material):
-Newspaper and phone books
-Tin and scrap metal
-Aluminum (separate)
-Corrugated cardboard (include brown paper bags here)
-Boxboard
-Mixed office paper and junk mail
-Magazines
-Books
- #1 plastics, (clear, blue and green transparent bottles and jars only—no clamshells, takeout, berries and salad containers)
- #2 plastics (milk jugs/cloudy separated from solid color containers)
- #5 plastics
-Garden pots, trays and tags
-Household batteries (please separate into regular, rechargeable and lithium, no corroded batteries)
-Empty inkjets
-Electronics (fee for TVs or monitor screens)
-Glass-no mirrors
-Dental Care Products (toothbrushes, empty toothpaste tubes and floss containers)
-Brita Products and packaging
-Food scraps in BPI-certified compostable bags, brown paper bags, wrapped in newspaper, or loose. BPI bags are available for purchase at all drives.
🚫 NOT Accepted: Plastic bags, polystyrene/Styrofoam
