David Lindow Clockmaker

David Lindow Clockmaker Specializing in 18th & 19th century restoration and reproduction of clocks and mechanical devices, as well as rose engines & ornamental turning equipment.

David Lindow is a clockmaker in Lake Ariel Pennsylvania with over 20 years of experience. The process of restoring period clock mechanisms and other instruments, as well as building handmade movements, engendered him with a deep love of machinery. Almost by accident he acquired a rose engine lathe in need of restoration and conservation. Through this, he fell in love not only with the equipment bu

t what it could produce. Seeing that these incredible machines had not been manufactured in decades, he used his shop and tools to re-introduce them to the market. Since the introduction of this lathe in 2006, David has not only restored numerous pieces of vintage engine turning equipment, but has also worked incessantly developing tooling and accessories for the rose engine. Through this he has become an international advocate for the art form of ornamental turning, across all types of machines and origins. David also specializes in the conservation and restoration of 18th and early 19th century clocks of American and European origin. Both his restoration work and his new clocks can be seen in many museums and other institutions throughout the country.
