If you live in SW Louisiana you should know that preventative termite treatments are far better than waiting until you have termite damage in your home. Unfortunately this home had not been treated for some time and has endured a significant amount of damage from Formosan termites. A curative treatment is now underway working in conjunction with a construction contractor.

It's that time of year again. FORMOSAN TERMITES are about to kick off their swarm season......
Just a few reminders:
Formosan Termites should swarm with this warmer weather. Here are a few tips for termite swarm season:
1. Clean out gutters.
2. Remove any leaves, pine needles and/or debris from roof valley's.
3. Turn off any unnecessary exterior lighting.
4. Keep blinds and curtains closed ( even the light transmitted from a single television set can attract formosan termite swarmers).
5. As always, do not store firewood adjacent to your home.
6. Eliminate any wood to ground contact next to your home.
7. Have any roof repairs completed ASAP.
8. Repair all water leaks in and around your home.
9. Caulk and/or weather stripping should be in good working order on all exterior doors and windows.

Native Eastern Subterranean termite, reticulitermes, swarmers. This species is native to our area and swarm during the day. Seeing termite swarmers lets know there is a colony in close proximity to your house.
