DO NOT engage with your creditors, until you have a plan to repay. Simply talking to collection agencies, may restart the "collection clock"

Creditors WANT their money AND are willing to negotiate. Often-times, we're able to arrange a "pay for delete" agreement, which would satisfy the debt (typically for less than what is owed) AND remove it from the credit report, with no further action from either party.

Visit annualcreditreport.com Since companies like Credit Karma offer free TransUnion and Equifax reports, we recommend pulling your Experian report. Be sure to print or save it, because you can't pull any report again (for free) for 1 year. DO NOT purchase the credit score.

"Hard Credit Inquiries" remain on your credit report for 2 years, but stop effecting your credit score after only 1 year. Typically, 1 to 3 total inquiries per year, will not effect your credit score. There are other factors to consider.

"What is the best balance to leave on my credit card"?

The best answer is 0 balance, but no more than 30% of your total credit line.

Credit cards are the biggest factor in calculating your FICO score. There are 3 primary areas that credit reporting agencies look at, with regard to credit cards, in determining your score:

1. Is the card being used?
2. Is it paid on time?
3. What is the balance (in any given month)?

Using your credit card, every month, paying on time and keeping at or below 30%, will maximize your credit score.

Store credit cards and nationally accepted credit cards are viewed differently.
