Another successful underwater recovery. 🤿⚓️
American Towing & Underwater Recovery was called out to Lake Harriet in Minneapolis after a swing-keel failure during a storm sent this sailboat to the bottom in approximately 10 feet of water.
Our recovery operation included underwater assessment, rigging the vessel, deploying lift bags, controlling the ascent, stabilizing the boat at the surface, and dewatering it until it was floating under its own buoyancy again.
Underwater recoveries require the right equipment, planning, and—most importantly—the right people.
A big thank you to Scuba Sally, Keith Cormican, and Mike Lindstedt for their help on this recovery. Great crew and another vessel back where it belongs: on top of the water.

Sorry for the delay posting these — it was cold af out there and we've been busy!
Glad I was able to dive and rig this one the day before recovery. Ice houses add a little more complexity than a typical job so we thought it was worth the share. We don't post every recovery we do but this one had some good pics.

Tracked skid started to slide down the hill due to the ice sheet. Unable to make it back to the top we were called to assist. Anchored the nose of the truck to a large tree. Easy pull after that.

With wind chills approaching -47°F, we strongly urge everyone to stay home unless it’s a true emergency.

At these temperatures, vehicles fail fast, batteries die instantly, and exposure becomes dangerous in minutes.

If you must be out:
• Keep your phone charged
• Dress for survival, not the walk from the car to the store
• Understand response times may be delayed for safety reasons

This cold doesn’t care how tough you are. Use common sense and stay safe.

❄️ Dangerous Cold & Icy Roads Tonight ❄️

With wind chills dropping 20+ below tonight, conditions are extremely dangerous. Vehicles are sliding off roadways, batteries are failing, and even short breakdowns can become serious fast.

If you don’t need to be out, stay home.
If you do, slow down, leave extra space, and keep your phone charged.

If you find yourself stuck or stranded, don’t keep spinning tires it only makes recovery harder and more dangerous in this cold.

I need to give Facebook ads some credit. We were shown an ad for tire plugging screws to replace the rope style ones. Well today was the day to test it. Less than a minute and the tire was plugged with no leaks. Time will tell.
