When hardwood flooring gets wet, you can’t always see how much moisture has made its way underneath the boards. On this job, we’re using a technique called tenting, where the plastic is sealed around the affected area so we can direct airflow underneath it and concentrate the drying equipment where it’s needed most.

We also monitor the moisture levels as the job progresses so we know how the flooring is drying and when it reaches the proper drying target. The goal is to dry the hardwood properly and save what we can instead of removing it unnecessarily.

When we’re drying a home, we don’t just wait until the materials feel dry. We use drying standards to know what moisture level we should be reaching for each material.

Studs, joists, drywall, plywood, and other materials all have different drying targets. We take readings throughout the job so we know when the materials are properly dried and ready for the next step.
