🚨 Friendly Reminder: Before Hiring a “Dump Run” guy to Haul Your Trash 🚨
In the Kern River Valley, it can be tempting to hire “the guy down the street” to do a dump run — or rent a dumpster from someone who isn’t authorized. While it may seem convenient, using a non-franchise hauler can create serious problems for you later.
Here are a few important reasons to avoid unlicensed, non-franchise waste haulers:
❌ 1) They may NOT be licensed to haul waste in Kern County
Only approved franchise haulers are legally permitted to provide waste hauling services in this area. Many unlicensed haulers operate outside of Kern County regulations.
❌ 2) They often do NOT carry the required insurance
If an unlicensed hauler damages property, gets into an accident, or causes injury, you may be exposed to liability because they may not carry the appropriate insurance required in Kern County.
❌ 3) You may never know where your waste actually ends up
They may take your money — but without proper documentation, you may have no way of knowing whether your trash was taken to a legal transfer station.
❌ 4) Your name and address could end up on social media
When illegally dumped waste is found on the side of the road or in a field, people often search for identifying information. If mail or paperwork with your name/address is found, it can be posted publicly online.
❌ 5) You could be fined for illegal dumping
Even if you didn’t dump it yourself, you may still be held responsible if your identifiable information is found in dumped waste.
