From the fair to the table, and back into our community.
Delta Liquid Energy recently delivered one of the pigs we purchased at the California Mid-State Fair Junior Livestock Auction, now fully processed locally by Sinton & Sons, to in Atascadero.
This donation will be used specifically in ECHO’s Workforce Development Kitchen Program, where participants gain hands-on experience and build practical skills for future employment.
While dropping off the donation, we had the opportunity to talk with Workforce Development Kitchen Manager Aaron Hall and learn more about the program. Participants can spend up to four months developing kitchen and workplace skills, including food handling, stocking, shipping and receiving, knife skills, prep work, ingredient preparation, and cooking. They also have opportunities to help develop recipes and create a dish of their own.
Before working in the kitchen, participants earn their food handler certification. After completing the broader workforce development program, they can also receive letters of recommendation to help support their next steps into employment.
We also learned about an exciting expansion at ECHO’s Atascadero campus. Their new family resource center includes private family rooms adding 30 additional beds, along with dedicated spaces for children, workforce training, counseling, and family support.
We’re proud that this donation can help support workforce development while also learning more about the many ways ECHO continues to grow its services for local individuals and families.
Thank you to Aaron and the ECHO team for showing us more about the program and for the work you continue to do in our community.
