Alex is on a roll. She has been pressuring a non-migratory flock of over 50 Canada Geese. in the beginning they were very sticky and hard to move from the property. Constant pressure has resulted in the flock's numbers decreasing, the Geese are leaving the property far more easily and staying away longer between visits. The community's roads and sidewalks are no longer covered with goose p**p (technical term)and the community's maintenance team has a lot more time to focus on other projects, oh, and the residents love Alex. When we show up for work the Alex fan club watches her work and marvels at her results. Way to go Alex.

Well we have a brand new client up in Black Mountain. An amazing facility full of very nice folks. They have a flock of geese that has been there for decades that ranges from 50 to about 85 geese. These is a huge amount of very very well maintained grass, a big garden and several ponds for the geese to enjoy. They have been so well fed, the geese have stopped migrating and have made this their full time abode. Everyone likes having geese around but because each goose can leave between one and two POUNDS of goose p**p EACH DAY, the roads, sidewalks and lawns get covered very quickly. So, my Border Collie, Alex and I began to convince the geese they should look for another place to permanently call home. Here is a video of Alex applying pressure to the flock. As you can see, no geese were harmed. Well done Alex!!

While Canada Geese are pairing up and getting frisky, these two are on 24 watch to make sure the new geese families DO NOT try to move onto our client’s property. Imagine the disappointment these four geese experienced when Alex showed up and encouraged them to find another place to stay! Please note, the geese left while the Border Collie was still yards away. This is why PETA and the Humane society endorse the use of Border Collies to manage Canada Geese.

Made our second visit of the day to our client’s property in Fairview. Seems a pair of Canada Geese were looking for a nice place to nest. So, it was off to work for my female Border Collie, Alex. Besides being trained to do the job, the way Alex and all Borders stalk the geese with their heads down, rear ends up and tails between their legs, all the geese see is the profile of a predator. The dogs also use their “Border Collie Eye” or stare to intimidate the geese. Usually safe from predators when in the water, you can see here the geese want no part of this encounter and FLY AWAY! Alex-2, Geese-Goose egg! (Sorry)

These two cannot wait to get out of the truck and chase a few geese. It is that time of year, again. Canada Geese are getting active and have started to look for places to build their newest, lay some eggs and hatch some goslings, all while taking over YOUR PROPERTY.
