Here is a question that demands investigation. Does the ssd interfere with the cables which run under the ssd and reduce the performance of the ssd? In this case a 500GB EVO 840 by samsung.

Upgrading a Mac (MBP) to SSD is not so easy. Cloning across to the SSD did not bring with it a recognizable Office License, so now the MBP works without Office 2011. Hopefully my daughter can locate the original License when she returns to college.

My new wireless router arrived today. Its a Netgear WNDR3400. I was looking at some of the newest routers ac, which come with some great features, but they are high priced. This is one of the last generation n dual channel routers, significant improvement over "g" but only around $80. I found a refurb unit for $24.00, with free shipping. One of the great features of this router, and it may well be included in other models, is that you can schedule the switching off of the WiFi. this is great from a security viewpoint, and also health. What is the best video editing software? I guess I'm looking to two types, the fast and simple, get-er-done with fast learning curve, then the sophisticated project software, like premiere. What works?

It's very interesting how Samsung as pretty well establish its brand and overtaken many other Brands. It was not long ago when Sony was the Brand, but now look where Samsung are.

Spent the day thinking about getting the Samsung Blue-ray writer, but decided to get the pc sorted first. The Samsung writer works from USB2, and there is a writer from ASUS that works with USB3 and is twice the speed. About $20 more, so will probably go for the Samsung.

The base machine comes with a Nvidia GTX850M which should be ok for video editing, if I can get the software tuned correctly with the hardware.

The second question is can i run a smaller SSD and the original HDD in the laptop. Investigating optical drive replacement with a caddy to hold a HDD or SSD.
