The best hiring outcomes come from looking at readiness, not timelines. A gap on a resume triggers an easy assumption, but a pause rarely tells you how someone will perform. People step away for caregiving, health, layoffs, education, and a dozen other reasons that say nothing about their ability to do the job well today.
