Check this out before the March 20th registration deadline to participate in this Preservation Program organized by Balboa Art Conservation Center (BACC)- link in bio. With virtual and in-person learning opportunities, if you work with collections, want to gain confidence carrying out preventive care, and are looking to build regional contacts, this may be a great opportunity for you.
While currently aimed at California organizations, the information is applicable no matter where you are located- like southern Oregon!

I will be one of the presenters at the in-person 3-day workshop in Redding, CA (Turtle Bay Museum) August 24-26, 2026. See more from the link in bio.

BACC’s California Inclusive Preservation Program (CIPP) is an education and training program designed to expand access to collections care knowledge. A “collections caretaker” is anyone responsible for the care, handling, storage, or preservation of cultural objects, artworks, documents, or materials—whether working in an institution, a community organization, or outside a formal collections setting.
~
This program is for collections caretakers who care for cultural collections in a wide range of settings, including:
▪️ Museum and archive staff
▪️Tribal nations and Indigenous communities
▪️Community-based and grassroots organizations
▪️Historical societies and local heritage groups
▪️Volunteers, students, and memory keepers
▪️Cultural caretakers working outside formal institutions
Eligibility: You do not need to be a conservator or have formal training to participate. CIPP prioritizes supporting collections and caretakers across California, but our virtual lectures are open to anyone.
What you’ll walk away with: CIPP offers practical, real-world guidance you can apply immediately, from preventative care strategies and storage solutions, to risk assessment and resource planning. Participants leave with tools, confidence, and a network of peers who understand the challenges of caring for collections with limited time and resources.
