It is with a warm heart that I pass the torch of Henscratch Farms Winery on to new owners Matt and Jena with hopes of your continued patronage.
16 years ago Drew and I started our great adventure in farm, vineyard and winery ownership. Drew worked full-time learning the ropes and making Henscratch Farms a fun family place to feed the chickens, ducks and pigs, pick grapes, strawberries and blueberries and to help us stomp grapes at the Annual Grape Stomps every August.
Drew's wines won many awards at the State Fair and yielded many visitors wanting to replenish their shelves with their favorite Muscadine and Scuppernong blends. Through our many pumpkin, strawberry,blueberry, Easter egg and grape stomp festivals at the farm we have enjoyed getting to know many friends from all over the world!
Our weekly Wednesday afternoon music jams were a "Snowbird's" favorite place to gather in the sun, visit with long lost friends and enjoy the great sounds of Peggy, Pat, Dick and Rex over the years.
One face that was always there to greet you at the Country store and wine bar was Marta. Marta has been the backbone of Henscratch Farms for over 10 years but especially prominent after our fearless leader Drew, affectionately known by many as Mr. Henscratch, passed in 2018. Marta's husband Bill endlessly helped keep the farm clean and green and thriving since 2018. Their dedication and hard work will always be remembered and appreciated!
Drew and I always enjoyed seeing friends and family that would offer their help for our many festivals! We could never repay you for your hours of sweat, laughter and tears. Your efforts meant so much to Drew and I! Even though Drew is no longer with us, his spirit still lives on at Henscratch Farms! I am so excited for Matt and Jena to carry on the tradition, history and celebration that is Henscratch Farms Winery!
Please support them as they embark on this new adventure to bring back Henscratch Farms Winery to the family and friends that have made it a Lake Placid landmark over the last 24years! Peace and love to all that dwell there!
