🐾 Today, Florida SARC is in Miami-Dade County delivering our Small Animal Emergency Sheltering Awareness (Level 1) course, sponsored by FL SART and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and hosted in partnership with the Miami-Dade Office of Emergency Management.

Participants from animal welfare, emergency management, and volunteer organizations are coming together to learn the fundamentals of emergency sheltering for pets and service animals during disasters. Through training, discussion, and practical exercises, these future responders are gaining the knowledge needed to support animals and their families when emergencies occur.

We are grateful to FL SART for sponsoring this training opportunity and to the Miami-Dade Office of Emergency Management for partnering with us to help strengthen Florida's animal response capabilities.

Preparedness starts long before the storm arrives. Every person trained today helps build a stronger, more resilient response network for tomorrow.

More trained responders means more animals saved.

Animals cannot speak for themselves, which is why they need us to be their advocates and their voice when we see situations that we know in our hearts are not right. If you ignore the signs of neglect, abuse, or suffering, those animals may never get the help they desperately need.

Speaking up can make all the difference. Reporting concerns, asking questions, or reaching out to the proper authorities may help save an animal from continued hardship and give them a chance at a better life. It is not easy to get involved, and you might feel k**e it's not your place, but it is and compassion requires action.

Every animal deserves a voice. When you see something wrong, trust your instincts and do not look away.

Together, we can make a difference for animals in our communities. Because the ENTIRE family matters!!

It is hard to put into words just how appreciative we are of the responders who make up the Florida SARC team.

Over the past several days, our responders have stepped up in a big way. Whether assisting Citrus County Animal Services with the care of animals involved in a large-scale cruelty case or supporting the isolation shelter operations at SPCA Florida, they have given their time, energy, and compassion to animals that need them most.

These volunteers spend long days feeding, watering, cleaning, walking dogs, providing enrichment, caring for livestock, and doing countless other tasks that often go unseen. They travel away from their families, adjust their schedules, and dedicate themselves to helping animals and supporting our partner organizations whenever called upon.

To every Florida SARC responder who has deployed, volunteered, instructed, trained, or answered the call to serve—thank you. Your hard work, professionalism, and commitment make a difference every single day. The animals, shelters, and communities we support are better because of you.

We are also grateful to our partners and supporters who help make these missions possible. Together, we are creating better outcomes for animals when they need us most.

Thank you to Ziggy's Haven Bird Sanctuary, Inc for donating much needed animal feed and supplies!!

Did you know you can be a monthly donor that help get our volunteer responsers out into the field? They need you know more then ever!!

Three Missions. One Team. Countless Animals Helped.
This weekend, Florida SARC responders were hard at work across Florida supporting animals, shelters, and communities.
🐾 In Citrus County Animal Services, our team assisted staff caring for animals involved in a large cruelty case, helping provide daily care and support so local resources could remain focused on the ongoing response.

🐱 At SPCA Florida, Florida SARC responders supported isolation care operations, helping ensure animals received the attention and care they needed.

🌪️ In St. Pete Beach, our volunteers spent the day at the Hurricane Preparedness Expo, planting the seeds of preparedness by helping pet owners understand how to include their animals in emergency plans before disaster strikes.

Whether caring for animals, supporting shelter operations, or educating the public, our volunteers continue to demonstrate what service, compassion, and preparedness look like in action.

To every Florida SARC responder who gave their time this weekend—thank you. Your dedication allows us to be there when animals and communities need us most.
More trained responders means more animals saved.

🐾 Florida SARC Responders Deploying to Support Citrus County 🐾

This weekend, members of the SPCA Florida's Florida State Animal Response Coalition (FL SARC) will be deploying to Citrus County Florida to support Citrus County Animal Services following a large-scale animal cruelty investigation involving 92 animals. Authorities reported the seizure of horses, goats, sheep, dogs, cats, birds, poultry, and other animals that now require ongoing care and shelter support.

Our responders will be providing staff augmentation to the shelter team, helping with daily animal care tasks including feeding, watering, cleaning, enrichment, and general shelter support. By assisting with shelter operations, we help free up the animal services personnel to continue managing the ongoing needs of this complex case.

We are proud to stand alongside our partners in Citrus County and support the dedicated staff and volunteers working to ensure these animals receive the care they deserve.

💙 Please keep the animals, shelter staff, animal control officers, and responders in your thoughts as this work begins.
