Most of my ferry work involves getting aircraft from one runway to another. This trip was different — Indiana to California following the river systems, on straight floats, in a 1946 Taylorcraft.
My article about the marina stops along that route just appeared in the March issue of Marina Dock Age. The seaplane angle is specific, but the underlying story — showing up somewhere unexpected in a vintage aircraft and seeing how people respond — will be familiar to anyone who's ferried tailwheel aircraft cross-country.
The book covering the full journey launches this June.
