Projects like the Grange Solar Grazing Center will keep land in active agricultural use through agrivoltaics while preserving the land for decades to come. At the end of the projects lifespan, the land can be returned to its prior use - unlike other forms of development such as housing.

Agricultural land provides food, feed, fiber and fuel. At the same time, much of that land could also support clean electricity by housing utility-scale wind and solar energy installations. This can create conflict between competing land uses.

The Grange Solar Grazing Center will help enable new recreation, fishing, and tourism through our Indian Lake Great Miami River Maintenance Program (“Program”). This is an initiative that will fund the cleanup and maintenance of a 3.35-mile stretch of the Great Miami River in the project area.

Grange will fund and work with Ohio’s River Rangers organization to clean, stabilize, and maintain a ~3.35-mile stretch of the Great Miami River from the Indian Lake Great Miami River Spillway to the SR-274 Bridge.

"Dual use has many economic benefits, like increased tax revenue, lease payments to local landowners, and the ability to continue agriculture use."

With solar energy becoming more common, local officials should consider agrivoltaics, which combine solar panels and agricultural production on the same land, when drafting or amending ordinances on solar siting, said the Center for Rural Affairs on Monday.

We're proud to be partnering with local sheep farmers to manage the project's vegetation and expand a local agricultural export through solar grazing. Did you know project will eventually accommodate 5,000 to 7,500 head of sheep?

Grange Solar is working with local producers and regional and national experts on targeted grazing. Producing energy, fiber, and food year round will make Grange and even better project for Logan County and Ohio Producers!

Solar projects, including the Grange Solar Grazing Center, which participate in PILOT programs will pay a fixed sum of money each year for the lifecycle of the project. This allows for a secure, stable flow of money to local communities.

It gives local governments more stability for ambitious projects and long-term planning.
