This is an important time of year for us as a company. It is a time that unites us and where we can take time to focus on family and community.

This fall, FreshRealm kicked off a companywide initiative to foster connections to each other and to the work that we do. As part of FreshRealm Giving Days, teams took time out of a typical week day to further our mission and passion for Connecting through Meals within our own communities nationwide. We hoped to have an impact, and we ended up having our hearts touched even more profoundly than any of us imagined.

As we ease into the Thanksgiving holiday, we acknowledge our many blessings and opportunities like these that deepen our ties to others.

The back to school season is upon us.

To keep a pulse on consumer sentiment, we launched a consumer insights survey. It brought many truths to light - among them, over 30% of consumers say "time" is the biggest challenge to preparing meals during the week. When not cooking at home, 40% of consumers turn to fast-food drive thru.

Enter Fresh Meals.

Prepared meals at grocery are gaining mindshare. Nearly 25% of consumers shop the fresh meals section of the grocery store more now since the pandemic began FMI Corporation.

“Fresh departments are the heart and soul of the supermarket experience“

The 2022 Supermarket News Fresh Food Trends Report details how much they are thriving.

Among retailers who participated in the survey, 70% agreed perimeter categories (including fresh) saw a significant sales increase driven by continued eating at home. Another cause for consumer shifts? The lines of home and work are more blurred than ever.

One retailer added. “Fresh has become a very important area, so we have to be on top of adding new items, increased sizes, etc. Customers are paying more attention, so that means we have to pay more attention.”

Very reaffirming to see retailers so optimistic about this vital segment of Grocery where we can have such great impact.
