It was 15 years ago this week I began the journey toward being a
Task It 2 ME Bookkeeping turns 15 later this year and I am looking forward to reflecting upon and sharing the story of how I started and how it is going!!

Double Entry bookkeeping is the cornerstone of modern accounting, but it is not exactly a modern concept. The earliest records date the practice back to the late 13th Century.

The practice spread in Italian merchant cities in the 14th century. It was eventually documented in 1494 in Luca Pacioli's mathematics textbook. His detailing of the method has earned him the title "father of accounting."

Since September is back-to-school, we thought we would share some bookkeeping and accounting trivia.

Evidence of bookkeeping, in the form of ancient clay tablets, can be traced back to 3300-3200 BC!

(BTW: this is how old your bookkeeper feels every W2 and 1099 season! 🙃)

For me, the end of "summer vacation season" and the return to a school year always gives off the same vibe as January 1st! A great time to refresh & renew

Keeping your employee data up to date can be challenging. Wanting to avoid all the "paperwork" is understandable.

Did you know that QuickBooks Payroll (both the standalone product and the payroll software found in Quickbooks Online and Desktop) offer a free service called QuickBooks Workforce? This service is a portal where your employees can access paystubs, change their W4 data, change their address, and even other personal data (if you allow it)

This shifts the burden of manually making all of these changes to the employee, saves time, and cuts down on errors!
