Some places leave an impression long after you’ve gone. Not just because of the food or the setting, but because of the people behind it all.

Reviews like this from guests like Jaimee S. mean the world to us because they capture exactly what Dudley, Peggy, Stuart, and the entire team hope every guest feels when they visit The Dog & Oyster and The Hope & Glory Inn.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Jaimee S.

“We had such a lovely experience at The Dog and Oyster. You can immediately tell this place is something truly special and personal to the people who created it. Dudley and Peggy were absolutely wonderful hosts. They were so warm, welcoming, and genuinely excited to share the story behind the property, the restaurant, and the inn. Hearing about the history and little details from them made the experience feel so much more meaningful and memorable.

The property itself is beautiful, peaceful, and charming in a way that feels both elegant and comfortable at the same time. You can really feel the care and passion that has gone into every part of it.

We also have to mention Stuart, the grill master, who was fantastic as well. He was incredibly kind and made some seriously delicious food. Everyone there made us feel like guests in their home rather than customers at a restaurant.

Between the atmosphere, the wine, the oysters, and the genuinely lovely people behind it all, this ended up being one of those places you leave already wanting to come back to. Highly recommend making the trip out there."

Who's excited for local soft shell crabs at The Dog and Oyster Micro-Vineyard for the Memorial Day holiday weekend?!

You know how you can tell summer is on the way?

Here’s a hint: 🦀

Chef Stuart Tyson is debuting a holiday weekend special that feels like the unofficial start of the season here in Coastal Virginia. Local soft shell crabs are one of those fleeting tastes of summer we wait for all year long, right alongside longer days, warm breezes off the water, and evenings spent outdoors with a glass in hand.

Join us this Memorial Day weekend for our Soft Shell Crab Sandwich or Soft Shell Crab Pickin’s — four soft shell crab halves served with our Chesapeake remoulade.

It’s how we eat ’em on the Northern Neck.

Available this weekend only at The Dog & Oyster while supplies last.

Weekend Hours:
Friday: 2–6 PM
Saturday: 12–6 PM
Sunday: 12–5 PM
