"The IRS purposefully destroyed 30 million taxpayer documents, according to an audit report published Monday by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA). Rather than work through its backlog, agency brass decided to just destroy the documents instead:
"The destroyed documents include W-2 forms and 1099 forms among many others. Taxpayers have spent millions of hours trying to reach the agency via telephone or mail, with no luck. Some amount of this correspondence related to taxpayers trying to prove to the IRS that they did indeed send in their tax forms — the same tax forms destroyed by the agency...)

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration finds a lack of coordinated effort across the IRS to fulfill opportunities for wider electronic return filing.

What Is a Federal Award?

(Posted on January 2, 2020 by Grants.gov
This post was originally published in 2017 and updated on January 2, 2020.)

"To understand what a federal award is, let’s begin with the plain English definition of award (noun): “something that is conferred or bestowed especially on the basis of merit or need” (Merriam-Webster). For our purposes, we also need to look at definition 2(b) for award (noun): “the document containing the decision of arbitrators.”

"When you hear the word “award,” do you envision the federal government conferring funding to you to implement a public-serving project? Some of you grant professionals did, but it is understandable if you thought of this year’s Best Film, the league MVP debate, or your child’s T-ball participation trophy."

In the context of U.S. Federal government financial assistance, the phrase “federal award” has specific meaning. Let’s now examine the authoritative source, the OMB Uniform Guidance for Awards:

With a name like Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (commonly called “Uniform Guidance”), you’re unlikely to mistake this government publication for a comic book or romance novel. But, unless you’re a federal grants expert, you may have some difficulty pinning down the Uniform Guidance’s main goal.

"In plain English, the Uniform Guidance is simply a set of authoritative rules and regulations about federal grants from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). This “guidance” is designed to keep everyone in the federal grants community – Congress, grant-making agencies, and applicants – on the same page."

'How Eliminating Non-Competes Could Reshape Tech'

"Federal restrictions of employee non-compete agreements could be in the cards for 2022, paving the way for increased worker mobility in a variety of industries. Such restrictions would have hiring and strategy implications for businesses as well..."

"As part of a sweeping executive order aimed at promoting competition in the American economy, US President Joe Biden specifically called out non-compete agreements as hurtful to innovation and workers. Issued last July, the order asks the Federal Trade Commission to consider curtailing the use of such agreements."

President Biden says non-compete agreements threaten innovation, but the tech industry leans on them to protect trade secrets. Andy Wu discusses what a potential ban on these legal pacts could mean for business.

, Getting Started on Your Workspace Application, with Grants.gov

👤Workspace is the standard way for organizations or individuals to apply for federal grants in Grants.gov.

👥Workspace allows a grant team to simultaneously access and edit different forms within an application. Plus, the forms can be filled out online or offline — your choice.

✳Grants.gov Workspace also allows applicants and organizations to tailor their application workflow.

Here are three approaches that applicants can take when completing a Workspace application.👇

✳Basic
Best for organizations with 1-2 registered Grants.gov users

Application forms are downloaded and emailed to collaborators before being uploaded back to the workspace

✳Intermediate
Best for organizations with 3-5 registered Grants.gov users

Applicant teams are typically comprised of an AOR who submits, as well as a Workspace Owner who oversees form completion

✳Advanced
Best for organizations with external Grants.gov users, such as consultants

Workspace Owner manages form access

Workspace Owner adds subforms

This video explains how you can create a workspace for a specific funding opportunity on Grants.gov.Learn more at https://www.grants.gov/web/grants/applicant...

Being an entrepreneur isn’t for everyone.🤯

🙄If multiple failures without any guarantee of success scare you🥵, it’s probably a sign you’re not cut out to be an entrepreneur.🤔

It often takes years of hard work, long hours, and no recognition to become prosperous.

A lot of entrepreneurs give up or fail for other reasons, like running out of money.
- Statistics show that over 50% of all businesses fail after five years in the United States.
40% of startup failures result from a bad fit, followed closely by 38% from lack of time and involvement.
