Some seasons feel more vibrant, full of life, with space to give and receive.

And some seasons feel slower, quieter, more reserved, hard to move through.

Neither of those is wrong or bad.

They just are.

They’re part of being human.

Going against my capacity is like forcing myself to flow like a rushing river in a drought - just about impossible without abandoning the self.

Honoring my capacity means leaning into accepting what is right in front of me — the tools, the circumstances, the agenda, my health and nutrition — and responding likewise. Not pretending it’s something it’s not or pushing past it.

I will get what I need from each season by leaning into my capacity, not shaming myself because of it.

Just meeting myself where I am, and letting that be enough.

What season do you find yourself in?
Let me know in the comments.

Most of us weren’t taught how to be gentle with ourselves.

We learned how to push, critique, improve —
but not always how to meet ourselves with kindness.

So if softness feels unfamiliar,
you’re not doing it wrong.
You’re learning something new.

Maybe today that looks like something small:
pausing in front of the mirror
and saying one kind thing to yourself —
even if you don’t fully believe it yet.

Start there; you're allowed to be in process. 💚

Sometimes things need a little more time.

I’ve decided to postpone the March 24 Common Ground Coffee Hour as I take a look at timing and what might support this space best moving forward (including an evening option).

I’m really grateful for the interest, conversations, and curiosity that have already come from this idea.

This is something I care about deeply—creating spaces where people can show up as they are and engage in real, human conversation—and I’m taking what I’ve learned here as I consider next steps.

If an evening option would work better for you, you can follow along here for updates as I share more.

More to come soon 💚

EDIT: Quick update—Common Ground Coffee Hour for March 24 is being postponed as I explore timing (including an evening option).
Thank you for your interest and feedback as this journey unfolds!

I’ve been really encouraged by how many people this idea has resonated with 💚

A quick update as this first gathering approaches:
☕ Coffee will be provided
💬 It’s a relaxed, come-as-you-are space — no pressure to share
👥 A few spots are still open for this pilot

This is simply a space to slow down, connect, and have real conversations — nothing formal, just shared presence.

If this feels like something you've been needing in this season, you’re very welcome.

The goal of healing isn’t to erase your past.

It’s to change your relationship to it —
so it no longer controls how you see yourself,
your worth, or your future.

It’s learning to hold your story
with more compassion and less shame.

Less bracing.
More space.

What happened will still be part of you —
but it doesn’t have to define you. 💚

𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 💚
I’m really excited to finally open up space for something I’ve been sitting with for a while — a place to slow down, take a breath, and have real conversations about life and emotional health.

This is for anyone who’s been feeling a little heavy lately…
or tired of performing, pretending, or carrying things alone.

Common Ground Coffee Hour is a simple, in-person gathering where you can come as you are — no pressure to share, no need to have it all together. Just a shared space to be human, alongside others who get it.

This first one will be a pilot gathering, so space is limited as I learn what this looks like in real time.

Details:
📅 March 24
🕚 11:00am–12:00pm
📍 Newman Lofts, East Lansing
💲 $10

You don’t have to come with anything prepared — just yourself.

If this feels like something your heart has been needing, you’re welcome to join us.

The sunshine we've been having this week - and the rain and chill on the horizon - reminded me how helpful it can be to have an anchor of hope to hold onto.

And it brought a 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 to mind.

Just like the rhythms in nature, especially this time of year in the Midwest, things don’t always unfold neatly.

Sometimes it’s thaw and freeze, thaw and freeze again.
A little sunshine.
A little chill.

Messy.
Uncertain.
In-between.

And somewhere in the middle of it all, we’re still allowed to be human.

We’re allowed to be imperfect.
And to be met there with care and compassion.

Connection doesn’t require perfection.
It requires presence. 💚

International Women’s Day 💚

Today is a good reminder that strength isn’t only about individual accomplishments.

Another quiet form of strength is the way women show up for each other.

Encouraging instead of competing.
Listening instead of dismissing.
Making room instead of guarding space.

When women support one another, something powerful happens —
we all rise a little higher.

Here’s to celebrating the women who lift others along the way. 💚

Over the past couple of weeks, a lot of people have expressed interest in the idea of a monthly coffee-hour gathering for real conversations around emotional and relational health.

Not therapy.
Not a formal support group.
Just a shared space where people can show up as they are, connect, and talk about the things that make us human.

Before moving forward, I put together a very short survey (about 2 minutes) to help shape things like timing, location, and format. If something like this would interest you—or even if you're just curious—I’d really value your input.

I’ve been genuinely surprised by the amount of interest so far, and I want to be thoughtful about creating something people would actually want to show up for.

Your feedback will help determine whether this becomes a reality and what it might look like for our community.

Motherhood is spending hours a day convincing small people to do two things you desperately wish you could do yourself:
sleep
and
be alone.

If this season feels exhausting, you’re not doing it wrong.

You’re doing something deeply human:
caring for little nervous systems while managing your own.
It’s ok if it’s a lot.

And if no one has said it today—
I see you.
I’m with you.💚

We’re in the “in-between” in Michigan.

Between cold and warm,
between grey skies and sunshine,
Between things dying and new life.

Spring is coming, and there’s still snow.

Sometimes this tension is straining; the waiting between seasons, knowing change is coming.

Allowing ourselves to be present in this moment, with all the emotions that come with it, is part of the process of allowing space for hope, alongside recognizing all of the ways new is coming. Both are good.

I’m grateful for the sunshine, the patterns of melting snow in my yard, the green of the grass, while still needing to snuggle to stay warm.

And I’m excited for spring 🌷
