Today is the **FINAL DAY** to enter the **2026 MPA Better Newspaper Contest!** 📰🏆

⏰ **Deadline: TONIGHT, October 2, at 11:59 p.m.**

The contest is open to **MPA members only**.

Before you submit your entries, here are a few important reminders:

📅 **Eligible publication period:**
August 1, 2025 – July 31, 2026
Entries must have been published during this period, or the majority of the content must have run during this timeframe.

💻 **Registration is required.**
When registering, use Association Code: **MPA26**
⚠️ The code is case-sensitive.

💰 **Check your dues!**
Your **2026 and any past-due balances must be paid OR a payment arrangement must be in place by tonight's deadline.** Otherwise, your entries will be disqualified.

📖 **READ THE RULES CAREFULLY!**
Please review both the rules on the first page of the contest website AND the complete MPA contest rules. Double-check that each entry is submitted in the correct category.

Last week to enter the 2026 MPA Better Newspaper Contest.
This is only open to MPA Members

The rules are on the Contest page on the website. https://michiganpress.org/contests-and-awards-2/

Below are points to remember:

The Contest is open from August 1 through October 2, 2026.
The eligible entry period for the contest is August 1, 2025, through July 31, 2026. Entries must have run between those dates, or the majority of the content must run during that time frame.
Make sure all entries are entered before October 2. Don’t wait until the last minute to enter the contest.
2026 and past dues balance must be paid or have a payment arrangement set up before the October 2 deadline, or your entries will be disqualified.
Must register when you enter the contest
When Registering the Association code MPA26 (case-sensitive)
Read the rules on the first page of the contest website. They are also in the rules.
Make sure you read the rules not only on the cover page of the Contest website but also our rules as well.

REMINDER: Be sure to read the rules carefully to make sure you are entering the correct categories.

If you know someone planning to enter a freelance writer's work that was not published in an MPA member newspaper, or if you know of a new print or digital publication that would like to participate in the 2026 Better Newspaper Contest.

Please make sure they become a member of the Michigan Press Association by September 15, so their work is eligible.

Dues must be paid (or a payment arrangement must be in place) before entering the contest. Entries submitted by members with unpaid dues will be disqualified.
