The latest report from the Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board is out, and it shows the industry is facing some new challenges. Total sales for the last fiscal year reached $758 million—a rare decline of about 8.6%.

Why the change?
Experts point to a "maturing market" where prices are becoming more competitive across the entire U.S. Even with this dip, Nevada remains one of the strongest markets in the country, continuing to fund local governments and schools.

✅ $105.8M generated in Washoe County

🚨 MAJOR FEDERAL UPDATE: Cannabis Reclassified to Schedule III

Today marks a historic turning point for the cannabis industry. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche signed an order immediately moving state-licensed medical cannabis and FDA-approved products out of Schedule I (alongside he**in) and into Schedule III (alongside medicines like Tylenol with codeine).

How does this change the game?
1️⃣ Financial Survival: For years, IRS Code 280E prevented cannabis businesses from deducting standard expenses (rent, payroll, marketing). Now, medical operators get immediate tax relief.
2️⃣ Legitimacy: Moving to Schedule III recognizes "moderate to low potential for dependence" and officially acknowledges medical benefits.
3️⃣ Investment & Banking: While we still need the SAFE Banking Act, this move makes financial institutions much more comfortable working with the industry.

What about Recreational?
Adult-use cannabis remains in Schedule I for now, but a DEA hearing is scheduled for June 29, 2026, to consider full rescheduling.
