Here's a glimpse into the future of retail.

Many people will be upset that the jobs of these cashiers will disappear, but we disagree. There are opportunities in future high-growth areas that cashiers can move into (with the right training, of course).

The real challenge is going to be how are smaller stores going to be able to compete?

Amazon is already providing access to training for the jobs they deem relevant in the not-too-distant future, but not every company has deep enough pockets to be able to do this. And if this technology means less people in the stores serving customers, that will/could/should drive prices down. Again, how will the smaller stores compete?

The answer: YOU MUST INNOVATE.

Don't wait till you're taken out of the game. Think ahead.
