Last week, the EPS team spent the day volunteering at The Just One Project, a Las Vegas based food bank founded with the mission of connecting the community through volunteering and inspiring people to give back.

This remarkable organization impacts an average of 20,000 lives monthly by distributing over 600,000 pounds of groceries to food insecure families and the community of Southern Nevada. Their food programs serve as an introduction to those in need, also connecting them with resources and programs that help build a solid foundation and gain self-sufficiency.

We could not have chosen a better way to spend our Friday, serving the local community, and truly appreciate the hard work of The Just One Project.

The U.S. Department of Energy has launched a $10.5 Grid Resilience and Innovative Partnerships Program to accelerate innovative projects ensuring future grid reliability.

Grid modernization and infrastructure upgrades are paramount in order to support the huge number of energy projects currently being built or that remain in the queue. Improving and expanding our transmission and distribution systems across the country will require an immense amount of cross-collaboration, investment, and innovation.

Renewables expected to generate 22% of US electricity this year, a record share of generation estimated by the Energy Information Administration.

Following the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, renewables are set to be significantly boosted by long-term industrial policy.

In a collaboration with research institutions called the REPEAT project, Princeton University said solar deployment may accelerate from 2020 rates of 10 GW of capacity added per year to nearly five times as much by 2024, adding 49 GW of utility-scale solar each year.

Solar deployment may be well over 100 GW per year by 2030, said the analysts.

On the last day of , we’ll turn towards the brighter, more sustainable future that clean energy is securing for our planet. Transitioning to zero-carbon energy sources – like wind, hydropower, and solar – will help drive the clean energy economy forward while also benefiting our planet by reducing the carbon pollution produced by conventional generation sources.

In a new Economic Impact Study by Advanced Energy Economy (AEE), the creation of a Western RTO would provide a huge boost to the West’s economy with over 600,000 new permanent jobs, up to 4.4 GW of additional to the grid, increased renewable energy storage and $2B in annual cost savings. In addition, having an RTO would allow areas with high demand to get access to wider range of energy resources, improving reliability.

As part of Nevada’s Senate Bill 448, a 19-member Regional Transmission Coordination Task Force is currently researching the benefits of regionalization and will present their work later this year.

Entering an RTO can help each state meet its climate and energy goals, furthering us to the bottom liv goal - cheap, reliable, clean electricity.
