Great advice from Henderson Police Department as always!!!
Here are a few New Year's Safety Tips to ensure the well-being of yourself, your family, friends, and even your furry companions 🐶🐱 safe.
• Drinking and driving remains the leading cause of fatal accidents nationwide. If you've had a few drinks while celebrating, plan ahead by exploring options such as public transportation, ridesharing services, or coordinating a carpool with friends.
• Establish a sensible curfew for your kids during their New Year's Eve celebrations. If they drive, emphasize the risks associated with driving on the holiday. Encourage them to stay in one place rather than moving between multiple places. Discuss the dangers of driving distractions and highlight that teen driving with friends increases safety risks compared to driving alone.
• Pets often experience heightened anxiety on New Year's Eve. Ensure their safety and comfort by keeping them indoors and minimizing exposure to loud outdoor sounds. If your pet has a history of anxiety, consult your vet about potential anxiety medication.
• If you leave your car overnight, make sure to lock your car and retrieve it early. New Year’s Day is the most active holiday for car thefts.
The Henderson Police wishes you a safe and joyful New Year. 🎉 🎆
