Earth busting is an amazing tool we have in our tool box. It can be used to resolve failing drain fields to clearing out pond overflow culverts. It uses compressed air to break apart compact soils to allow water to flow back through soils. Also we can break apart / maintain biomat layer that forms naturally were waste water meets soils. ( biomat is the black layer of microorganisms and organic waste. It is essential to all septic systems in small amounts. It acts as a filter by treating the wastewater by breaking down pathogens , organic matter , and nutrients). But over time it can build up and become an impermeable barrier that does not allow wastewater to pass through and can cause saturated drainfields or cause system to back up.
