Over the moon for Phoenix. 🥹💙

When Phoenix started with us just a few months ago, he had very limited eye contact, little to no vocal communication, a hard time maintaining attention, and wasn’t engaging in play with his peers. Most of the time, he simply wanted to be held and feel safe with us.

And then Saturday happened. 🥹

Phoenix sat right beside Nathan and stayed engaged in an activity with him. Nathan would pick up different colored balls and ask Phoenix what color they were… and Phoenix NAMED THEM. 😭👏🏼

He maintained his attention. He participated in an activity with a peer. He listened to the questions and responded with the sweetest, clearest vocals.

Something that may look so small to someone else felt absolutely HUGE to us.

Watching these babies grow in confidence, communication, independence, and connection is exactly why we do what we do. We celebrate every word, every interaction, every little step forward because we know just how BIG those little moments really are.

Phoenix, we are SO incredibly proud of you. Keep showing us what you can do, sweet boy. 💙🥹

Some of the sweetest moments happen outside of the classroom. 💛

We took a little trip to the new Hobby Lobby here in Laurel to work on public and community skills, and my heart was just so full watching her. Every little moment of independence, every interaction, every new experience… it all means something. 🥹

The employees were absolutely wonderful with her. So patient, welcoming, and accommodating from the moment we walked in. There’s something really special about watching your community meet our kids with kindness and simply make them feel welcome. It reminded me all over again how much I love our little Laurel community. 🫶🏼

And then I caught this sweet moment with Ava. 🥹💕 The hug, the friendship, the comfort of having someone beside you… those are the moments that get me. Watching these friendships grow so naturally is one of the most beautiful parts of what we get to do.

We want our kids to learn, of course. But more than anything, we want them to feel confident, included, loved, and like they have a place in this big world.

It was a good day. A really, really good day. 💛

Seeing our walls transform into colorful, welcoming spaces has been incredible, and we’re so grateful that you chose to be part of this journey. The murals you painted will brighten the days of so many children and families for years to come.

It means so much to have members of our community believe in our mission of creating an inclusive place where every child feels seen, valued, and celebrated.

A Road Runner with his noise-canceling headphones, chewy, and AAC device…because communication looks different for everyone, and that’s okay.

Our walls aren’t just being painted with characters… they’re being painted with acceptance, understanding, and belonging. Every child deserves to walk into a place where they can see themselves reflected and know they are welcome exactly as they are. 💛

✨ A little sneak peek… 👀🎨

Just a tiny glimpse of one of the many hand-painted murals I’ve been creating for our new building! 🐾💙

Every mural is being designed and painted by hand with so much love, creativity, and purpose. I can’t wait to watch these blank walls transform into a space that brings smiles, sparks imagination, and makes every child feel welcome the moment they walk through our doors.

We’re getting closer every day! 🥹

We’ll be taking appointments for tours soon, so stay tuned for more updates! We can’t wait to open our doors and show you everything we’ve been working so hard to create.

Something truly special is coming… ✨

Today, this project became even more real to me.

I found myself sketching one tiny detail: a little character holding a “Help” sign. But I didn’t want it to be just a sign. I wanted it to speak to every child, every family, and every person who walks through these doors. So I added the sign language for “help.”

It sounds so simple, but standing there drawing it, it hit me.

This isn’t just a mural anymore. This is the beginning of an entire school built around inclusion.

A place where sign language belongs on the walls. Where AAC is celebrated. Where differences aren’t hidden; they’re embraced. Where every child, regardless of how they communicate, learns one very important thing:

You belong here.

Thinking about the children who will grow up seeing these walls every day, and the families who will finally feel understood, honestly made my heart feel so full.

This mural isn’t just for the children we serve today. It’s for every child who will walk through these doors in the years to come, and for a community that deserves to see what true inclusion can look like.

Every little detail has a purpose. Every brushstroke tells a story. And I can’t wait for people to experience it. ❤️🫶
