Today we honor and remember Richard Smallwood — a giant in gospel music and truly DC’s finest. Though his influence reached the world, his roots and residence in the District of Columbia made him ours in a special way.

From “Total Praise” to “I Love the Lord,” his music shaped worship, healed hearts, and lifted generations across the globe. Richard Smallwood was not only a brilliant composer and singer — he was a son of this city whose gift gave God glory and gave the world hope.

Rest well, Maestro. Your legacy lives on in every note, every choir, and every soul your music touched. 🕊️🎶
