Early this morning, Firefighter Mobilization put a call out to Laurens County Fire Service for assistance with a structure fire in McCormick County at McCormick High School. We immediately mobilized 2 firefighters to assist. Laurens City Fire Department and the Clinton Fire Department also sent personnel. We are always glad to assist our regional fire departments when they are in need. Fires such as these can quickly overwhelm resources and Firefighter Mobilization will be notified to assist.

Yesterday crews responded to a structure fire on the north end. Upon arrival, crews reported a single family home with flames visible through the front of the structure. Inside were 4 dogs and 3 kittens. With the quick response of our crews, all animals were able to be removed from the structure and saved.

Thank you to the crews who always put in the hard work for our citizens!

Last night our C Shift Crew arranged training along with a few volunteers to go over vehicle extrication. We are always putting in work to be the best we can when you call! Thank you to Andrew Hall with Precision Towing for allowing us to use your vehicles and facility!

Today our Ekom Station was dedicated to our brother Michael “Mike Mike” Vinson and named in his honor. Mike Mike was a huge part of our service and community. We are pleased to honor his legacy by dedicating this station to him!

Thank you, Abbeville County Fire Service. Your actions today are the true definition of brotherhood. Because you stood watch at Waterloo and Sawmill, our community was able to come together to properly honor Firefighter Michael Vinson’s legacy. The Laurens County Fire Service will be dedicating and renaming the Ekom Fire Department in honor of fallen firefighter Michael Mike Mike Vinson. We would like to invite all past members of the Ekom Volunteer Fire Department and the community to the event. Please come and join us for this dedication.

Parking will be at the Sawmill Training Complex located at 8524 Neely Ferry Rd, Laurens, SC, 29360. A shuttle service will be provided.

When communities need help, EMS agencies across
South Carolina come together to answer the call. Laurens County EMS is honored to assist with coverage efforts in Cherokee County as part of the coordinated support network through the South Carolina EMS Association.

While some of our crews are assisting outside the county, residents can be assured that emergency coverage here in Laurens County remains fully staffed and ready to respond. Our commitment to serving our community never changes.

This effort is a great example of how EMS agencies work together to support one another during times of need. We are incredibly thankful for our paramedics and EMTs representing Laurens County EMS with professionalism, dedication, and compassion both at home and wherever they are called to serve.
