For this , we’re covering a system built for one of the most demanding requirements in fluid handling: keeping hazardous media contained, even when the primary pipe fails.

Federal regulations under 40 CFR 280 and 281 require that hazardous fluids be protected from escape in underground, exposed, and overhead locations. Asahi/America, Inc.’s Duo-Pro® Double Containment Piping System is engineered to meet those requirements without compromise. The system has been successfully installed in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and chemical processing facilities, including applications at Fortune 500 companies.

Duo-Pro® uses proven, highly corrosion-resistant materials: polypropylene (PP), polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), and ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene (ECTFE). Its mix-and-match design allows engineers to specify the carrier pipe material and pressure rating independently of the containment pipe, accommodating media and pressure changes within a single system. Components and prefabricated spools are welded by trained professionals and shipped fully fabricated, ready for installation.

Supply range covers 1×3 through 16×20. Pressure-rated configurations handle up to 150psi at 68°F. Drainage configurations are also available. Welding methods include simultaneous and staggered butt fusion. Leak detection cable can be installed in sizes 2×6 and larger. Dogbone® anchors provide the choice between a compartmentalized or restrained system.

Ideal applications include pressurized transfer lines, drainage, underground installations, and manufacturing.

For this , we’re highlighting fully automated infrared (IR) butt welding for piping systems.

The SP 110-S V3.1 controls all equipment movements and parameters during each phase of the welding process: heating, changeover, joining, and cooling. This full automation eliminates operator influence during fusion. A built-in mechanical system provides precise alignment, adjustment, and control.

is a non-contact method. The pipe ends heat at a specified distance from the heater plate, so the heating element never contaminates the pipe material. The process also produces very small internal weld beads, leaving fewer areas for biofilm or bacterial growth.

The V3.1 adds cleanroom-capable wheels, faster heater and planer movement, smart switching of clamping jaw inserts, wireless weld data transfer, and a built-in electronic operating manual. Core features include automated planing depth, an internal validation program, and a printer with cleanroom labels. The touchscreen displays all welding data and QA/QC guidelines at any time.

The tool welds 20mm to 110mm (1/2" to 4") single- and double-wall piping in PP, PPn, PVDF, PE100-RC, ECTFE, and Poly-Flo® double-wall systems. Built for shop operation, it includes a 110-230 VAC power converter.

The SP 110-S V3.1 is available for purchase or rental from Asahi/America

Asahi/America, Inc. will be taking part in from October 13 to 15, 2026, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco; if you want to get in touch with our team as well as our customers, partners, and fellow members of the microelectronics supply chain, please come to booth 664 in the South Hall.

Because high-purity leaves little room for error, ultrapure water loops, process chemical delivery, and the drain and exhaust lines that follow require materials that stay clean, resist chemical attack, and join together reliably. For this reason, thermoplastics have a place in a fab.

At the booth, you can see Asahi/America’s high-purity piping systems, such as Purad® PVDF, PolyPure®, and PP-Pure®, together with the welding equipment used for installing them; our team can also talk about thermoplastic valves for use in high-purity applications, double containment for chemical delivery, and custom fabrication based on your drawings.

Our engineers and sales team would be pleased to discuss material selection, joining methods, and installation processes in a facility, whether you’re connecting a new tool or replacing an unreliable system.

Plan your visit using the link below, then look for at Moscone. We look forward to meeting you in the South Hall.

On this , Asahi/America, Inc. is taking the cover off. These are quarter section views of Duo-Pro® fittings, the parts of a system nobody sees once the line is in the ground.

Start with the tee. The carrier pipe runs continuously inside the containment pipe, and the annular space between them stays open along the full run. That open space is what makes containment work.

The 90° elbow changes direction for the carrier while leaving room inside the containment for expansion and contraction, so thermal movement is absorbed instead of loaded into the joints.

Valves get contained too. A double contained valve tee holds a Type-21 ball valve inside the containment pipe, and a bolted top access fl**ge lets crews reach the valve for service without cutting into the run. Valving double contained in molded tees carries a pressure rating of 1.5 times the maximum operating pressure.

Holding it all in place: spider clips keep carrier deflection between centralizers within 0.1 inch while still allowing axial movement and maintaining a concentric relationship inside the containment. Molded centralizers carry four openings on 90 degree spacing so the annular space can drain and vent.

Duo-Pro is available in polypropylene, PVDF, and ECTFE, in pressure rated and drainage configurations, joined by simultaneous or staggered butt fusion.

For this , Asahi/America, Inc. is walking through Poly-Flo® co-extruded piping, built for buried and confined chemical feed lines in water and wastewater treatment.

Poly-Flo® is extruded as one piece. The carrier and containment pipes leave the die together, joined by continuous integral ribs, so the system expands and contracts like a single-wall pipe. No centralizing clips, spiders, or disks sit in the annular space. The system is self-restraining, built for horizontal directional drilling and direct burial without special backfill. Dogbone® fittings give the designer a choice between a compartmentalized system and a restrained one.

Materials are advanced polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene random copolymer (PP-R), in sizes from 1 “x1-1/2” through 6 “x9”. The carrier pipe is SDR11, rated 150 psi at 68°F, and the containment pipe is SDR17, rated 90 psi at 68°F. Joints are made by simultaneous butt fusion. Leak detection includes manual and low-point sensor options, and double-contained valve tees keep the valve inside the containment envelope.

For sodium hypochlorite, advanced PE Poly-Flo® is applied at 12.5% concentration or lower, 80°F or lower, and 80psi or lower, with butt fusion joints recommended. One more chemical room with .

For this , Asahi/America, Inc. is looking at the check valve that lives at the bottom of the suction line: the foot valve.

A foot valve is a ball check valve with a screen fitted to the inlet end. Installed vertically or horizontally on a pump’s suction side, the screen filters large debris and solids from the fluid to prevent pump damage, valve clogging, and harm to downstream instrumentation. It belongs wherever a check valve serves as an intake: pump inlets, lift stations, and drains.

Inside, it works the way every Asahi/America ball check does. A single interior ball unseats to permit flow in one direction and seals against the seat the moment flow reverses. Minimum shutoff is 5psi, and every size is rated for full vacuum service.

The built-in screen design strengthens the connection area. A smooth flow path reduces resistance, and fewer parts with a single connection reduce stress. Lightweight and compact, it installs in tight spaces and comes apart simply for cleaning.

Foot valves run 1/2” to 4” in PVC, CPVC, PP, and PVDF bodies with EPDM or FKM seats, in socket, threaded, and fl**ged end connections. PVC models are rated at 150 psi from 1/2” to 2” and 100psi in 3” and 4” at 30°F to 120°F.

No metal in the media, no external operator, and nothing in the pump that should not be there. at the intake.

For this , we are answering a question that specifiers and plant teams often ask: what do Asahi/America, Inc.’s warranties actually cover? This post covers our and .

The warranty period is 3 years from the invoice date. Asahi/America warrants that covered products will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal and proper use, and will conform to manufacturer-published specifications. A few products carry a 1-year term instead, so check the full warranty for the product you are buying.

If a covered product has a defect, the remedy is a repair, a replacement, an exchange, or a refund of the purchase price, at Asahi/America’s discretion. Repaired, replaced, or exchanged products stay under warranty. If a notice turns out to be without defect, the customer covers the costs Asahi/America incurred in responding.

Coverage depends on proper storage, handling, transportation, installation, use, and maintenance by both the installer and the final customer. Normal wear and tear and deterioration are not covered. Send written notice of any non-conformity or visible defect to Asahi/America customer service within 14 business days of discovery, or the warranty is void if notice is not prompt.

Which part of the warranty process raises the most questions on your projects? Tell us in the comments, and will help.

On this , Asahi/America, Inc. is looking at the water systems behind the glass: the life support that keeps animals healthy in aquariums, zoos, and recirculating aquaculture. Wet, chemically active, and running around the clock, these systems have long favored thermoplastic valves and piping.

The Type-57P butterfly valve handles large-diameter throttling and shutoff, with lever operators from 1-1/2” to 8” and Plasgear™ operators from 1-1/2” to 14”. PVC/PP/EPDM and PP/PP/EPDM models are NSF-61 certified.

For recirculating flow stability, the Type-21a SST ball valve delivers an equal-percentage flow characteristic across the full travel range in PVC from 1/2” to 2”, with EPDM or FKM seals and an ISO 5211 top fl**ge.

Check valves prevent backflow with no metal in the media. The ball check is NSF-61 certified in PVC and CPVC; the foot valve adds a built-in screen for pump suction; and the wafer check covers 3” to 12”.

For chemical dosing, the Type-14 diaphragm valve gives weir-style throttling and bubble-tight shut-off, even with suspended solids. Chem Proline® advanced polyethylene (PE) carries sodium hypochlorite feed lines at 80°F or lower, 80psi or lower, and 12.5% concentration or lower.

Series 19 electric actuators mount to the same Type-21A and Type-57P valves. One full life support loop with .
