Before you write someone up, put them on a PIP, or decide they're just "not a good fit" — ask yourself:
Have they been given a clear standard?
Do they know you actually see them?
Have you told them what good looks like?
Most performance issues aren't about the employee at all.
They're a mirror pointing straight at the leader.
The good news? Leadership is a skill.
Skills can be developed.
