Hello fellow Lawtonians. Yes, we have stopped collecting recycling and corporate is not going to continue. Although we would like to continue, due to the kids getting older and following their own life paths, we are unable.

We were unsuccessful in finding a buyer. Please realize it has nothing to do with the City of Lawton having a collecting service. The issue is once the recycling is collected, it needs to get to a sorting facility. The closest is OKC, glass is near Tulsa and styrofoam is near Dallas (the reason we stopped collecting either one.) Whether the City or a private entity collects, it still has to be transported. This requires manpower to haul, and drop, as well as it also requires tolls, gas and drop fees.

If the City or a private entity were to do it, it can not be done for free. You also have to pay at the facility to drop there. If this community wants to continue recycling, it will cost. Recycling works but still has an overhead.

We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know all of Lawton as well as our customers. To our customers, thank you for your support and love over the past 3 years. To all, we wish well.

Hi! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. It seems some people have received a message that we are going to be picking up recycling. I apologize for that. An email was sent out earlier that we were not picking up this week. The tracking email is an automated email and should not have gone out.

Thank you to our customers for being patient with us. What should have been a 1 day stay in Georgia and a 2 day drive home turned into a 10 day stay in Georgia and a 2 day drive home. However, we made it earlier this evening. We rescheduled today's route for Monday and tomorrow's route (Friday) for Tuesday. The routes from last week will be Thursday and Friday as usual.

It was definitely stressful flying our daughter home to start her 2nd year of cosmetology and her 1st job and not knowing when we'd be getting back. But it all worked out. We just need some rest and we'll be back on schedule. Thank you guys again.

To our customers -

We deeply apologize for the sudden cancelation of this weeks routes. And I apologize for any tickets we haven't addressed. We are truly in a predicament this week.

We were on our way back home from Florida. We took our daughter and her bestie to Orlando for their senior trip and our son's drama team was competing in Nationals in Orlando. We stopped in Georgia for the night to visit a friend of mine before continuing home. It was such a blessing we did. The transmission died in our vehicle. We were so thankful for the help of my friend and her husband as we worked through this.

It turns out it is a manufacturer defect. The great news is Chevrolet is fixing the issue free of charge. The bad news is we are in Georgia waiting on the Chevy dealer and Chevrolet to work out the paperwork for the replacement, the new transmission to arrive and then installed. Since we do not have a substitute driver that we have worked with, and have been unable to find a secondary driver, we are unable to run the route. Once we get some idea of a timetable, we will work on getting the route and y'all taken care of.

Hi. We are currently experiencing a problem with people who are not our employees taking some of the recycling set out.

We are sure that its the aluminum cans these people are looking for and then recycling the cans for cash. This is causing 2 issues for us. One, of course, is that we also recycle the cans for cash. That is one way we keep our subscription costs low. The second is that not only do we recycle all metals, but all the other recyclables to include mail and other papers with personal information. We are sure after taking the cans, these people are discarding all the other recyclables.

You pay for the convenience of having your recycling picked up, sorted and taken to the appropriate recycling facilities. We pay to provide bags. We pay teenagers to help sort. We pay for our employees running the route. We pay transport costs to haul the recycling which includes a facility in Oklahoma City so we can offer a wide range of items we recycle. Those taking the recycling bags are not only causing our costs to increase but also you to not get the service they pay for, which includes securing personal information.

We are actively working to resolve this issue. I have Ring footage and pictures some of you sent us. We are also working with the metal scrapyards and the police to see what legal rights we have. We are asking all customers to now move your recycling up closer to your house such as in front of the garage or porch. If those taking the bags are brazen enough to come up to the house, that is trespassing. Thank you for your help and hopefully this will resolve the issue.

Adventures in recycling!! Today while running the route, the door to the trailer broke. I want to personally thank the nice lady and her son who stopped to help me pick it up and block the road until I got it all.

Hey ladies and gentlemen. We are planning on running the route tomorrow. Since we are unable to predict the road passability until then, if we are unable to get to your house, we will message you. We may also have to find an alternate route which means that the route may take longer and we will not show up at our normal time.

As far as Friday's route, we will have to wait and see how bad the storms that are supposed to come through Thursday night are. Since we have not had a chance to dry out from the 2 previous storms, it is all a waiting game. Since the rain is supposed to continue into Friday morning, please be aware we may have to skip pick ups for some of you whose neighborhoods are flooded.

A Detailed List of Recyclables Accepted for Lawton

Metals:
Accepted: all metals excluding soft metals (see below)
Not accepted: aluminum foil, disposable aluminum bakeware

Plastics:
Accepted: solid plastics and clean plastic shopping bags (plastic shopping bags are donated to the Lawton Food Bank)
Not accepted: thin film plastics (package wrap from water bottles, paper towels, etc,) plastic storage bags, and torn/dirty plastic shopping bags

Paper and Cardboard:
Accepted: corrugated cardboard, mail, magazines, newspapers, catalogs, brown paperboard, white paperboard with the recycling symbol, books, standard paper, glossed paper, brown paper bags
Not accepted: paper towels, napkins, paper serving ware, toilet paper, cleaning or personal wipes

Please note: brown paperboard (like cereal boxes) can be broken down with cardboard while white paperboard (like butter boxes) goes with with the mixed recycling. All boxes of any type must be broken down.

Miscellaneous:
No aerosol containers of any kind
No batteries
No electronics
No glass
No styrofoam (cup/food containers, packing peanuts, box packaging)
No tetra paks
No dirty or greasy items
No hazardous material containers
