Large hail, and 50 mph wind gusts will be a concern from Del Rio-Central/Southern TX-eastward into the Houston area later this afternoon and evening.
Some golf ball to baseball sized hail should fall in portions of the ”black hatched shaded” region, where a Severe Thunderstorm Watch will be needed. High levels of instability (in excess of 3,000 j/kg) and adequate speed shear will support this threat.
There is some uncertainty as to whether or not these cells maintain intensity to the TX/LA border. Trends will be closely monitored.
