They say you can tell a lot about a community by the way they break bread—or in this case, the way they cook Gumbo. Kudos to the "Rue Crew", & all participants!
​This weekend, Gem Ascend deployed to Crystal Beach for the local Chicken Run Gumbo cook-off, and the mission was simple: Connect. Support. Elevate.
​As a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered right here in Galveston County, my goal isn't just to "run a company." It is to build a standard. Today, that looked like donating to organizations, sharing stories, and laughing with families from every walk of life.
​I stood there today and saw more than just an island event. I saw a bridge of American citizens united by good food and good people. Some might call it networking; I call it Operational Unity.
​Its easy to stay in your lane. It takes a different mindset to cross a bridge and build a relationship.
​To the people of Crystal Beach and Bolivar Peninsula: Thank you for the hospitality. The standard has been set.
