We are smiling here, but make no mistake—the work is pretty serious.

A week ago today, we traveled to Kansas for our first workshop of 2026. It was mere days after Renee Nicole Good was murdered by ICE agents and vilified by top Trump officials and, subsequently, unrest ensued in Minneapolis. It became apparent that we needed to pivot from what we initially planned for this convening.

Our collective power AND imagination when forming an effective resistance is our only chance at usurping the authoritative stronghold of ICE in our communities. Undo Bias—which has long been our labor of love towards the world we both want—must now shift into the work of asking our partners about resistance planning. What risks are you willing to take?

Like the Black Churches during Civil Rights, will you offer your space or place of business to those organizing against this regime? Like Hutu neighbors caring for their Tutsi friends, will you harbor an immigrant in your home? Like St. Louisans on Ferguson Streets, will you use your connections, money and resources to bail folks out whenever and wherever they’ve been detained and/or deported?

DEI work is DEAD. It’s time to strategize. If you haven’t decided which side you’re on by now—let me tell you: you’re on the wrong side. We no longer have the luxury of silence, inaction or passive engagement in the resistance. You need to know TODAY what you’re willing to risk—because tomorrow that may very well be tested and taken away from you.

Ready yourself.

Tis the season for doom scrolling and fueling the discouragement this time of uncertainty and confusion has wrought. But at Undo Bias, we are getting back to the basics.

Today, as we take back our economic power with the Blackout Boycott, we invite you to invest in your knowledge and self-awareness about racial injustice, divisions across class and color lines, and strategies for how we get free.

Undo Bias is beginning our “Pull Up a Chair” series with a lunchtime discussion on Keith Boykin’s book “Why Does Everything Have to Be About Race?” There is no cost to join us! Just buy (or borrow) your own book, read it beforehand and show up onscreen with your lunch (optional!) Zenique and James will lead a discussion and reflection.

Yes, it’s a (virtual) book club! For now. Our goal is to reinvigorate folks for the resistance. And we intend to use books and community to do so.

Hit the link in our bio for more information and to register for Pull Up a Chair—we look forward to seeing you there!

We can’t believe it has already been a week since we welcomed to to talk about their new book!

Through freshly snow-covered and icy streets, St. Louis came out to show and so much love! We are so proud of our city for filling the seats and the room with warmth, laughter and Black joy, further affirming this dynamite couple and their very important work as Culture Bearers.

Shout out to for the incomparable care and intention behind promoting this event and documenting via video the whole scene as it unfolded. You’re the GOAT, for real!

And to our friend and photographer phemon, , impeccable photo storytelling, as always! You really captured the essence of the night!

And a special shout to for the delivery and staging of the plants that complemented the authors during their talk. That was all your labor of love, Ali.

Thank you All!

Note to anyone who would like access to all pictures from the event, please send a request via DM or [email protected]
