Terry Stuart Forst of Waurika, Oklahoma, has been selected as the recipient of the National Golden Spur Award for her contributions to the ranching and livestock industries. Forst will be celebrated during the annual National Golden Spur Award Honors on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas.

“Terry represents everything the Golden Spur Award stands for,” Pam Minick, rancher, television host and longtime advocate of the ranching industry, who nominated Forst for the award, said. “She has honored her family’s legacy, strengthened one of America’s historic ranches and dedicated her life to serving the cattle and horse industries.”

Before Ty Murray was the King of the Cowboys — there was a shy kid from Oregon who built the throne.
Born in Salem, Oregon in 1943, Larry Mahan got his first horse at age eight and never looked back. At his first rodeo he won six dollars riding calves and immediately decided he was a bull rider. Nobody argued with him for long.
By 1965 he was a World Champion. What followed was five consecutive All-Around World Championships from 1966 to 1970 — a record that stood until his own protégé Ty Murray finally broke it. When Murray told him he planned to beat the record Larry just smiled and said — "If I'd known you were gonna win seven, I would've won eight."
Eight World Championships total. Six All-Around titles. Two Bull Riding titles. The first cowboy to compete in three events at the same National Finals Rodeo. The first to earn over fifty thousand dollars in a single season. A record 26 NFR roughstock qualifications that still stands today.
But Larry Mahan was bigger than any record. He was rodeo's first true crossover star. A documentary about his career won the Academy Award for Best Documentary in 1974. He appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated. He launched his own clothing and boot line that cowboys still wear today.
Rodeo announcer Bob Tallman said it best — "He was Elvis before Elvis knew who he was. People moved to him like a magnet."
He passed away on May 7, 2023 at age 79 — leaving behind a legacy that made every All-Around cowboy who came after him possible.
Rest easy Larry. The arena misses you. 🙏

Honoring Barry Corbin — A True Voice of the American West 🤠🇺🇸

Some actors play Western men.

Barry Corbin feels like he was carved from the land itself.

Born on October 16, 1940, in Lamesa, Texas, Corbin has spent more than six decades bringing toughness, wisdom, humor, and heart to the screen.

That voice.
That face.
That steady Texas presence.

You knew the moment he entered a scene, something real had arrived.

From Urban Cowboy and WarGames to Northern Exposure, No Country for Old Men, and Yellowstone, Barry Corbin has built the kind of career that cannot be faked.

More than 200 roles.
Generations of fans.
One unforgettable presence.

A U.S. Army veteran and a proud Texan, Corbin brought authenticity to every cowboy, sheriff, rancher, and old-school patriarch he portrayed.

When he spoke, people listened.

When he stood his ground, people believed him.

Because Barry Corbin never needed to overact. He carried the kind of quiet authority that comes from a life lived with grit and character.

His work reminds us why Western stories still matter.

Not because of the gunfights.
Not because of the dust.
But because of loyalty, courage, wisdom, and the kind of strength that does not need to shout.

Barry Corbin did not just play men of the West.

He honored them.

Today, fans tip their hats to a true American original.

Thank you, Barry Corbin, for a lifetime of unforgettable stories.

Quiet as a South Dakota winter. Deadly as a perfect bronc ride. That was Billy Etbauer.
Born in Huron, South Dakota, Billy was the middle of three brothers who all grew up chasing the same dream — and all of them made it to the NFR. But it was Billy who rewrote the record books entirely.
Five Saddle Bronc World Championships — 1992, 1996, 1999, 2000 and 2004. No flash. No drama. Just flawless riding year after year that left competitors shaking their heads and coaches pointing at him as the example of what perfect technique actually looks like.
He qualified for the NFR 21 consecutive years — a saddle bronc riding record nobody has touched. He won 51 rounds at the Finals — another record. And in 2004 at 41 years old he climbed on Cool Alley and matched his own 93-point NFR record ride to clinch his fifth gold buckle — making him the oldest roughstock world champion in rodeo history.
Over three million dollars in career earnings. A ProRodeo Hall of Fame induction in 2012. And a reputation among fellow cowboys as the most technically pure saddle bronc rider who ever lived.
He never asked for attention. The rides spoke loudly enough.
That is Billy Etbauer. 🤠🏆

Update: We found someone! Thank you!

We are looking for a babysitter to travel with us to rodeos in the northwest and help watch 2 young girls for 2-3 weeks in July. No horse experience required because you would just be responsible for watching the 2 girls. However, please only apply if you are ready for an adventure and do not mind sharing a trailer, late nights driving, and lots of time sitting in the car entertaining babies. Please DM if you are interested.

Small in size. Massive in heart. The most electrifying bull rider of his generation.
From Jonesville, Louisiana, Chris Shivers turned pro in 1997 as a teenager and immediately let the sport know something special had arrived. At just 5'5" and 145 pounds he climbed on the rankest bulls in the world and made them look beatable.
Two PBR World Championships — 2000 and 2003. Fifteen straight PBR World Finals qualifications. A record 93 career 90-point rides that no rider in PBR history has ever topped. He was the first bull rider to earn over $1 million, $2 million and $3 million in career earnings. The first to win the million dollar World Champion bonus in 2003.
He rode through broken cheekbones, broken eye sockets, a herniated disc in his neck and more injuries than most men could survive — and came back every single time. Quiet. No excuses. No drama. Just climbing back on and delivering.
His rival Justin McBride — himself a two time World Champion — said it best: "He's the most impressive thing the PBR has ever seen."
When he retired in 2012 the sport said goodbye to one of its all time greats. The records he set still stand today.
Size never stopped Chris Shivers. Nothing did. 🤠🏆

Four Bel Tuff
2024 Buckskin Filly

Projected 15.1H 1210Lbs

CR Tuff Super Cat is a son of Woody Be Tuff, who is very popular right now. Her mother, Chexs Four Six, is a daughter of Four Six Hancock and by a Figure Four Chex daughter that was one of Sage’s favorites. She was a full sister to all those good geldings we rode, and she was also by our best Lone Drifter daughter.

She has not been handled a lot and is not super gentle.
