I got some pushback on yesterday’s post about the proposed hunting dog ban, so here’s the exact language from the Greyhound Protection Act.
It bans what it calls “open field coursing,” defined as dogs pursuing live animals in an open field.
By that definition, running beagles on rabbits fits. Turning hounds loose on bear fits. Running coyotes with dogs fits. That’s not speculation—that’s exactly how the language reads.
There’s no clear protection for lawful hunting in that definition, and that leaves it open to interpretation.
That’s why this needs to be fixed or removed.
